But what players were top hitters, setters, passers, and blockers but didn’t make the trip to the IHSA State tournament. Here are a few that I’ve seen this season.
Natalie Chizzo, 6’3, OH, Oak Park-River Forest,
Adversity
, Northwestern
The Outside Hitter who consistently finds the gap when she swings. Natalie is also a great passer and Northwestern is lucky to sign her. She gears up for a run at a national title with
Adversity
VBC.
Faith Johnson, 2020, 5’11, OH, Neuqua Valley, 1st Alliance VBC, University of Akron
Faith will be a good fit at Akron and could be someone to watch early in her collegiate career. She wasn’t enough to lift NV to the State Tournament.
Gretchen Ketelhut, 2020, 6’3, MB, Plainfield North, Sports Performance VBC, UNC Greensboro
An amazing Middle Attacker, Gretchen can’t be left unmentioned on this team.
Rachel Krasowski, 2020, 5’3, L, Carl Sandburg, Depaul University
Receiving many postseason awards as well as her share of all-tournament teams, Rachel played in 319 sets totaling 2,112 digs, 1,346 service receptions, 136 aces and averages 6.6 digs per set. She must have a volleyball radar built in to help pick up that many digs!
Taylor Landfair, 2020. 6’5, OH, Plainfield Central, Minnesota
Taylor will be missed at Plainfield Central and during club season as she is not playing this year. Look for her to head straight to Minnesota to start her collegiate career.
Lia Moore, 2020, 6’1, RS, Chicago Christian, Chicago Elite VBC, Michigan State
It will be interesting to see if Lia can play at a Big Ten school, playing at the top level nationally. She should be able to compete with some of the best in the nation for a starting spot over time.
Britt Soudan, 2020, 5’6, L, New Trier,
Adversity
VBC, Indiana
Liberos are not a dime a dozen and neither is Britt. She had a solid senior season and will make Indiana better, defensively.
Trinity Sheridan, 2020, 5’11, RS, Prairie Ridge, Sky High VBC, UNLV
Watching her play often this season, Trinity is one of the best athletes in the game. Her superpower is hitting, but her kryptonite at times is passing.
Allie Trame, 2020, 6’3, MB, St. Thomas More,
Illini Elite
VBC, Alabama
Falling to Rochester in two straight sets, St. Thomas, could not make it into the State Final Four. Allie may have been missed at the tourney, but she’ll be seen at the University of Alabama.
Melissa Walden, 2019, S, Waubonsie Valley, Minnesota
Coming back from an injury, Melissa played hard and pushed through as the Warriors fell short of the State Tournament, losing to Benet in the Sectionals.
