The Prep Dig Top 250 Expo is an event that puts me into that mindset right away. I try to do my homework ahead of time, but it comes down to who sticks out when I am by their court, since trying to watch over 100 athletes in 2 hours is a big task.
Every player was impressive in her own respect, and I know I missed some big plays. It would be hard not to with 8 courts going at once. I did my best and put together my All Expo Upperclass team (2020 and 2021s only) consisting of the athletes who I saw make big plays when they were on the court.
Alyssa Koska – 2021 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Bay Port – Impact 18
Koska is an athlete I have not covered before and wanted to make sure to check out. She isn’t the biggest outside hitter, but she has control and some power to go with it. Koska did a nice job reading the ball, and I can see why she is quite productive for her high school team.
Elle Truckenbrod – 2021 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Kettle Moraine Lutheran – Milwaukee Sting 17 White
Truckenbrod is a fun player to watch. She has great control and is a great heads-up player. Truckenbrod is smart, powerful, quick, and has a 26” vertical. She has a knack of knowing exactly what her team needs from her most, even if she just met them.
Josie Halbeib – 2021 – 6’2 – Setter – Sun Prairie – FC Elite 18 Navy
Halbeib is typically one of the first athletes you notice because she is one of the tallest setters you will find. She is quiet, but I see improvement every time I see her play. Halbeib made instant connections with the hitters on her court. Another big plus; she has great hands and solid defense in the front or back court.
Kaitlyn Kolb – 2021 – 6’3 – Right Side Hitter – Waterford
This junior lefty right side could be a big time impact player. Kolb sets up a strong block and has a heavy swing. She takes a big approach and has a high point of contact when she attacks. Kolb’s physical play and power at the net make her a solid prospect!
Kirsten Anderson – 2020 – 5’9 – Middle Blocker – Sun Prairie
Whatever you expect out of a middle blocker, Anderson does it. She takes an aggressive approach, and even though she is a smaller middle blocker, she holds her own against big blocks. She sees the block well and works angles. Anderson’s steady and solid play keeps those around her focused and motivated.
Lauren Glissendorf – 2020 – 5’5 – Libero – Janesville Craig – Crossfire 18-Blaze
Glissendorf controls the ball well, making her solid with the regular duties of the libero. She is solid in serve-receive and makes controlled digs off some really powerful hits. Glissendorf showed hustle and tenacity as she got a lot of touches on defense.
Maggie Allaman – 2021 – 5’11 – Middle Blocker – Sun Prairie
Allaman has come a long way, and it’s clear she has worked hard to make her name known. She is an incredibly active athlete who is sound on offense, defense, as well as in transition. She closes the block and can take a solid swing at the ball. She may be just shy of 6′ but she would be an extraordinary asset in a college program.
Monica LaFleur – 2021 – 6’3 – Middle Blocker – Arrowhead – Milwaukee Sting 17 Black
LaFleur is a 6’3” middle with a 20-inch vertical. She blocks extremely well and has great court vision. I’ve covered LaFleur for about a year and had her on my court at High Performance camp. Her work ethic and ability to learn something every time she steps on the floor is impressive. LaFleur’s communication has improved and her ability to power a ball into the corners proves to be absolutely clutch.
Victoria Goedland – 2021 – 5’2 – Libero – Oak Creek – Sporting MKE 18 Green
Goedland is all over the place, and she communicates on the court really well. She is quick, runs the back court, and reads the play off the ball well. Goedland gets a lot of touches on nearly every ball and has a great serve-receive as well!
This is just a few of the great players that came out to show off at the Prep Dig WI Top 250 Expo this past weekend!
