Here are four more U17 teams that have the potential to make a splash regionally and nationally on club volleyball scene.
417 Net Results 17-1
LewisTo say this team is stacked is an understatement. It is comprised of many players who helped Nixa to a Class 4 State title in 2019 (Sydney Golden, Jaycee Fixen, Taylor Golmen). Not only that, it contains other area players whose all-around games have the potential to take this club team to great places in 2020. Among those players is Salma Lewis. The outside hitter had a monster junior season for Carl Junction with 466 kills, 213 digs and 32 aces. Her efforts earned her a spot on the Class 4 All-State team. It also includes Maddy Bushnell, who is a force in the middle for Willard High School. The Missouri State commit had 299 kills and 54 blocks in her junior season.
Highlands Performance 17 Rox
Highlands Performance returns the majority of the team who placed in the top 30 at Nationals as a U16 team. As a U17 team, the group has had good results in December warm-up events, finishing at the top of the Centerline Invite. The team features Kearney’s Mayson Behney, who earned all-conference honors in her junior season at the setter position. In the middle is Jada Davis, who had 64 blocks for Staley High School in 2019.
Invasion Volleyball 17-1
PetersonInvasion 17-1 carries over most of the 16-1 team that topped its 2019 club season with a top 30 finish in the American Division at Nationals. This team has the potential to better that finish in 2020. Two-time all-state selection Aleena Peterson returns on the heels a great season with Lutheran High School (Kansas City). The junior did a little bit of everything, with 173 kills, 292 digs and 72 aces. Kylie Gregory out of Blue Springs South joins Peterson. The outside hitter was second on the team in kills in 2019 with 145, good enough to grab all-conference honors.
Missouri Juniors 17-1
The Missouri Juniors get a boost in 2020 with the addition of Paige Reeser. The junior out of Jefferson City had solid junior season as a setter with 775 assists for the Jays. She also had 262 digs. Cassie Gray will give opposing offenses something to think about from the DS/Libero position. The Rock Bridge junior had an excellent 2019, where she averaged 5.5 digs per set, as well as 3.5 serve receptions per set.
