It was a fun couple of hours of highly competitive volleyball that had plenty of college coaches and writers watching. These athletes were dominant on the court throughout the day and have some great potential to continue their volleyball careers at the collegiate level.
Haley Allen – OH – Beaver Dam High School
The first quality about Haley Allen that I noticed is how she can pound a ball. And not just once, but consistently… off of serve receive, overpasses, and through blocks across the net. She has a lot of power and does not make a lot of mistakes.
Sydney Beasley – MH – Darlington High School
One of the toughest shots to defend in volleyball is a middle hitter who turns the ball to the left toward the opposing setter and Sydney Beasley has this shot mastered. This shot immediately caught my attention and I am sure the attention of coaches and spectators at the Expo.
Mariah Best – S – Waunakee High School – Prep Dig Rank #92
Mariah has solid form and when she releases the ball, it is always a smooth, clean, set. Her consistency is key and with her great form, her sets are perfect more often than not.
Lauren Borchardt – OH – Manitowoc Lincoln High School – Prep Dig Rank #72
Though Lauren is a bit undersized for an outside hitter, she has a huge vertical (25.2”, one of the best at the expo) and incredibly fast arm swing which makes her a danger to defenders everywhere. She also excels at serve receive and is a great all-around athlete and player.
Victoria Goedland – DS/L – Oak Creek High School
Victoria was one of the first athletes I noticed at the Expo. She gives 100% effort every play, never forgets to cover. She is not afraid to talk and take control of the court no matter who she is playing with and hustles for every ball.
Josie Halblieb – S – Sun Prairie – Prep Dig Rank #14
Josie is definitely one of the best players in the state in her class. She is an all-around athlete, great player, and leader on the court. She showed all of her skills at the expo as well as her ability to read the court and work with new hitters.
Kenzie Hanson – OH – Luxemburg- Casco
Kenzie has an awesome swing that is hard to defend. She reads the court well and has an arsenal of shots in her toolbox which she seems to be able to utilize whenever she wants, no matter the quality of the set or the opponent.
Lauren Hazelett – DS/L – Edgewood High School
Lauren has a book perfect platform that allows her to succeed on the court. She understands angles and adjusts her platform accordingly. Her ability to get a touch on nearly everything is a great advantage to her team.
Kaitlyn Kolb – RS – Waterford Union
Kaitlyn is a lefty with a solid swing. She knows when to hammer a ball and does it accordingly. She has good court awareness and is a huge asset as a right side.
Lindsay Krznarich – MH – Arrowhead Union – Prep Dig Rank #70
Lindsay seems to have flown into the spotlight this year. She was key in Arrowheads Division 1 State Championship just a few weeks ago. She also had an awesome club season in 2019. It is clear all of her hard work and dedication to the sport is truly paying off. She is a great hitter and excels at blocking as well.
Monica LaFleur – MH – Arrowhead Union – Prep Dig Rank #40
Monica was also a key player in Arrowhead’s State Championship title. She is an incredibly smart player and has the power to compliment it. She played very well at the Expo and was one of the top middles in attendance.
Martina McGrath – MH – Hartford Union High School – Prep Dig Rank #60
Martina has a lot of volleyball smarts, which is crucial for middle hitters to be successful. She is fast and has good form. Having all three makes her a dynamic and effective hitter who is very efficient on the court.
Nicole Norton – S – Southern Door
Nicole worked really well in out of system plays. She has soft, fast hands and was always quick to the ball. The vast majority of the game is played out of system her ability to consistently and comfortably make play out of system will benefit any team she plays on.
Paige Rusniak – OH – Hartford Union High School – Prep Dig Rank #109
Paige has a great snap and places the ball well. She seems to hang in the air while making a decision of where she wants to place the ball. Paige has a lot of power. Couple that with her ability to place the ball anywhere on the court and it makes her a dynamite athlete.
Nadia Wheeler – OH – Wauwatosa West High School – Prep Dig Rank #84
Nadia is a very smart player. She has a good amount of power but really excels in placing the ball. Her fast arm swing and seemingly full view of the court and her opponent’s placement make her extremely smart on the court.
Each and every athlete who attended the Prep Dig Top 250 Expo was impressive in their own way. These Class of 2021 athletes stood out from start to finish.
