Continue ReadingI knew going into this event this Class of 2021 was going to be a really special group. In two years, they will be finishing up the first semester of their Freshman year of college and most likely finishing their first collegiate season of volleyball. These athletes have options with plenty of the college coaches on hand who would be happy to welcome them into their program. They all offer something a little bit different, but at the end of the day they all positively contribute to their side of the net.
Alysen Dexter Alysen Dexter OH Des Moines Christian | 2021 State IA – Des Moines Christian – CIS
Dexter keeps on improving with her ability to contact high and snap, putting some zip on her ball. Her all-around game continues to develop and will soon be a backcourt scoring threat to add to her already front row ability to score with multiple shots. She will be a welcome addition to the Club Ignit Select squad where she will be a go-to outside hitter.
Layanna Green Layanna Green 6'0" | MB Waukee | 2021 State IA – Waukee – PowerPlex
Green makes really difficult plays look really easy with her ability to jump and adjust. Her athleticism is so fun to watch playing well above the net and creating shots for herself. Green will be on the radar of plenty of programs heading into this club season where she will play for PowerPlex. She will also be looking to defend her Class 5A state high jump title as well for Waukee.
Danielle Johnson Danielle Johnson 6'0" | OH Osage | 2021 State IA – Osage – Six Pack
Johnson came to the Top 250 after a basketball game the previous night where there were plenty of athletes who were pulling double duty on the weekend. Johnson is a solid six rotation outside who is always consistent with her all-around ability, positive body language, and in a scramble situation always finds a way to swing and be a solid outlet.
Paige Kisley Paige Kisley OH Osage | 2021 State IA – Osage – Flight
Another top track and field athlete in the state, Kisley just flys to the ball. Her ability to score on the outside earned her All-State honors along with Johnson for Osage. The high flying ability was definitely there on Saturday where she could terminate on the pin down the line or crosscourt.
Saari Kuehl Saari Kuehl OH Gladbrook-Reinbeck | 2021 State IA – Gladbrook-Reinbeck – Six Pack
I have not seen Kuehl play since late Spring and her overall athleticism and strength has really improved, same with her IQ of finding the open spots on the court. There is always that process of maturity going from hitting the ball hard to mixing up speeds as well as finding deep corners or other open spots of the court that will translate to points at a higher level.
Leah Moeller Leah Moeller MB Hempstead | 2021 State IA – Dubuque Hempstead – Iowa Rockets
Moeller demonstrated her ability to transition and get from pin to pin out of the middle this past Saturday. Long, athletic and some physicality at the net, Moeller is able to close the block while also making herself available to attack to score points in a variety of ways.
Kacy Nevitt Kacy Nevitt MB Perry | 2021 State IA – Perry – Central Ignit Select
Nevitt has a pop to her swing. A fast arm swing which results in a heavy ball that can split the block or make it tough to get a clean pass from. A strong athlete, Nevitt was the go to athlete for Perry this past season and will be on the Central Ignit Select 17 Green team.
Hailey Pollock Hailey Pollock 6'2" | MB Clear Creek Amana | 2021 State IA – Clear Creek-Amana – Six Pack
Pollock, unfortunately, had her high school season cut short due to a broken finger and is now cleared to play! Seeing top athletes sidelined for an injury is the worst. Pollock was back to what she can always be depended upon to do which is closing and pressing the block and finding ways to score points with a deep shot to the corner or being highly effective on a slide.

Zoe Rus Zoe Rus 5'10" | OH Underwood | 2021 State IA – Underwood – SWI
Heavy swing, point-scoring outside. I’m really excited to see SWI play this upcoming club season with the likes of Rus and Vanfossan as well as a few others from Southwest Iowa, who was well represented at the Top 250. Rus will definitely be a 2021 outside to keep tabs on this club season.
@kennascheib with the 🏠🏠🏠 – going to be a strong 2021 middle blocker this club season pic.twitter.com/3bxO6dwC9y

McKenna Scheib – Ankeny – Six Pack
Scheib’s upside is incredibly high, accustomed to a high level of competition being a key contributor at Ankeny and a part of a really strong Six Pack team. Scheib can score points out of the middle and I think she could even be a big presence with her block and ability to attack off one foot coming from the right side. She definitely will provide options at the next level with her athleticism.
Emma Schubert Emma Schubert OH Assumption | 2021 State IA of @iowaselectvbc always solid in serve reserve and on the pin. pic.twitter.com/jUgHNKTZ2Z

Emma Schubert Emma Schubert OH Assumption | 2021 State IA – Davenport Assumption – Iowa Select
From day one of watching Schubert play, I’ve always enjoyed her aggressive style and how she is so fast to the ball. A six rotation player who is incredibly solid in serve receive as well, Schubert has a grit to her that sets her apart. The Iowa Select 17 Mizuno squad is going to be a scrappy bunch and a really fun group to watch in 2020.
Annie Stotlar Annie Stotlar OH Bettendorf | 2021 State IA – Bettendorf – Iowa Select
Stotlar really stood out with her overall athleticism. She’s the type of player who could play multiple positions with her all-around ability. She will be on of the top attackers returning for Bettendorf in 2020 and will team up with Schubert on the Iowa Select 17 Mizuno team!
Two @ClubIowa middles attacking in Kaebre Sullivan Kaebre Sullivan 6'1" | MB Osage | 2022 State IA of Osage and Macey Tisue Macey Tisue OH Dunkerton | 2021 State IA @maceykt14 of Dunkerton pic.twitter.com/C9JdSd7W1E
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) December 7, 2019
Macey Tisue Macey Tisue OH Dunkerton | 2021 State IA – Dunkerton – CIA
Tisue stood out with her ability to transition and make herself available as a middle throughout the day. Whether it be a block to transition or game like situation, she could be counted on for a swing with a good pass. She also knows to take it to the corner knowing its more than likely going to be open each time.
Alia Vanderhoef Alia Vanderhoef OH City High | 2021 State IA – City High – Iowa Rockets
Another solid all around athlete who is well rounded. This was one of the first times getting a chance to watch Vanderhoef a little closer and she really showed she can put a ball away, but also pass to attack as well.
Macy Vanfossan Macy Vanfossan OH Underwood | 2021 State IA – Underwood – SWI
Always aggressive, Vanfossan has the intangibles where she can score points because she isn’t afraid to put a big swing up. Underwood had great representation at the Top 250 and will definitely be making waves in Class 2A for 2020.
Natalie Welch Natalie Welch 6'0" | RS Mount Vernon | 2021 State IA – Mount Vernon – Adrenaline
Welch can always be depending upon for consistent effort and positivie contributions on her side of the net. She can play high and is really strong on the right side where she is accustomed to a high level of competition. She ended her 2019 club season with a USAV title in the National division and also won a state title with Mount Vernon last month.
Lineya Wells – Sioux City East – MVP
Just a fun player to watch with a really athletic style. Wells was one of the top attackers for Sioux City East this past fall and you could see why from her performance on Saturday. She is solid in the backrow and can create a variety of shots for herself.
Elyse Winter Elyse Winter 6'1" | OH Xavier | 2021 State IA – Xavier – Six Pack
It doesn’t matter if Winter is playing in the state tournament or a 3 on 3 Queens game at the Top 250, she competes and wants to win. After starting her high school career as a middle, Winter has come on extremely strong and is developing into one of the top pins in the Class of 2021.
