Here is a quick guide as to who to watch and where they are heading at the Girls Winter Championships this weekend in Chicago. As the club season progresses, not only do we start seeing recruiting classes coming together, but also what conferences will be looking like not only at the Division 1 level, but in Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, and Junior College levels. The Chicagoland area has them all.
Camryn Hannah – Adversity 18 Adidas
Committed to Clemson
I had a chance to see Camryn Hannah play this fall at the Asics Challenge as she was one of the top athletes in the gym competing for Marist, a top high school program in the Chicago area. Hannah jumps like none other, but she also has the all-around skill to do so many positive things for her team from being a solid defender as well as having the ability to set. She has all the intangibles that really make for the complete package and will be a huge addition to Clemson next year to make waves in the ACC.

Julia Treichel – Milwaukee Sting 18 Black
Committed to SIUE
Treichel is electric on the pin, a solid six rotation outside who can score points from anywhere on the court. She will head to SIUE along with another Milwaukee Sting athlete in Alyse Drifka, a strong 2020 setter. Treichel has the motor, the intensity, and all-around skill to find success in the OVC.
Taylor Vanden Berg – Impact 18 National Black
Taylor Vanden BergCommitted to Wingate
Vanden Berg is well trained and extremely physical at the net, but yet can put the ball where her hitters need it to terminate. She will head to Wingate, a top Division 2 program in North Carolina that has been a national contender. Impact is out of the Appleton, WI area where Vander Berg was one fo the top setters in the state, being a key piece to Appleton North’s state tournament run.
Izzy Schauer – Milwaukee Sting 18 Gold
Committed to Belmont
Just a gamer. Schauer will be a key piece to getting the ball to the powerful front line of Milwaukee Sting 18 Gold. The intangibles and value that Schauer brings to the court are hard to measure. She has a knack for finding the matchup for her attackers to terminate and just has a grit, refuse to lose type style that is welcome in any gym.
Sydney Rabe – FC Elite 18-Elite
Committed to Green Bay
Sydney RabeRabe comes from Wabeno, Wisconsin where if someone says they are going “Up North” – that’s Wabeno, an absolutely beautiful area of the state in the North woods where picturesque cottages are plentiful. Rabe comes into the season under the radar, but has great potential being long, athletic, and a high reach touching ten feet. The experience she will get on the FC Elite 18-Navy squad will provide plenty of momentum for her heading into Green Bay.
Jacey Spann – Club Ignit Select
Committed to Grand View
Spann is a springy athlete out of the middle who can get from pin to pin to block, but her athleticism really makes her a force to score points as well. Spann and Clug Ignit Select are out of the West Des Moines area, Spann will stay close to home attending Grand View out of Des Moines, a top NAIA program.
Kara Peter – IPVA
Committed to Drake
IPVA comes out of the Central Iowa area as well where Peter will continue her volleyball career attending Drake University. Peter is a really physical player who puts up a big block where she can play on the pin or out of the middle. When she is out of the middle, she can be really dangerous off one foot, this IPVA team is full of really athletic players committed to various D1 and D2 programs throughout the Midwest.
Trinity Sheridan – Sky High 18 Adidas
Sheridan attackingCommitted to UNLV
Sheridan just flies, her ability to play high on the right side is something fun to watch. Sky High 18 Adidas has plenty of all around athletes who are accustomed to competing at a high level. The pool of three with FC Elite, and Circle City will be a battle come Saturday morning.
Faith Johnson – 1st Alliance 18 Silver
Committed to Akron
Johnson has always been solid all the way around during her club career at Sports Performance and 1st Alliance. She can score points with a big arm and can also put up a really solid block where she can play on either pin.
Madelyn Rettler – Milwaukee Sting 18 White
Committed to Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa has started to build a mini pipeline to Milwaukee Sting with Madelyn Rettler and setter, Nicole Pozorski who plays on Sting 18 Black. Rettler is a pin hitter who can find a way to score points and will be a big piece of Sting White’s success this weekend.
Hannah Prasky – MN Select 18-3
Committed to Augustana
Prasky is a middle blocker who has had a successful career at Champlin Park High School outside of Minneapolis, winning a state title in 2018. She will head to Augustana out of Sioux Falls, SD – a strong D2 program that will start their process heading to D1. Sam Miller of Capital Volleyball Academy will also head to Augustana as a setter.
Emily Alan – Wisconsin Juniors 18-1
Committed to IUPUI
Alan knows how to score points from really fast tempos from her setter’s. She is accustomed to some top setters in the region with high school teammate Kaley Blake heading to UW-Milwaukee and her club setter, Karlee Lois heading to Wheeling Jesuit. Alan will head to IUPUI along with her club teammate Madeline Haines.
Brooke MulhollandBrooke Mulholland – Iowa Select 18 Mizuno
Committed to Kirkwood Community College
Mulholland just makes things happen on her side of the net as a setter that can defend, dish, and attack. Her 18 Mizuno sqaud out of the Quad Cities is a really gritty and athletic bunch, looking to build off of their appearance at Nationals in 2019. Mulholland will head to one of the top D2 JUCO programs in Kirkwood Community College out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa – a perennial national contender.
Halle Olson – MN Select 18-1
Committed to Florida Atlantic
MN Select is really deep at the pins and Halle Olson is a pure scorer from the outside where she is automatic on a one on one situation. With a decorated high school career out of River Falls, Wisconsin, Olson will head to the sun on the shores of Florida Atlantic where she can be a quick impact to score points on the left side.
Kat Warpinski – Mizuno M1 18-1
Committed to Loyola-Chicago
Warpinski will be heading to her future home of Chicago where she will be heading to Loyola next year. A libero/ds, Warpinski will be a key first contact to a fast tempo M1 team with top athletes and academic standouts with athletes heading to Princeton, University of Chicago, and Emory.
Abby Brunssen – Iowa Rockets 18R
Committed to Northwest Missouri State
Brunssen has a huge arm from the outside and will key for Iowa Rockets this weekend. She will head to Northwest Missouri State, a D2 program on the rise where Wisconsin Juniors outside hitter Olivia Dir is also committed to for next year.
Justyus Jackson – Platform Elite 18 Adidas
Committed to Tulsa
Jackson has been one of the top players out of the Quad Cities that will be a key member of Platform Elite 18 Adidas out of the Davenport area. Strong block and ability to score points, Jackson will head to Tulsa next year to compete in the American Athletic Conference with recent powers UCF and Cincinnati.
Kaycee Meiners – Capital 18 Adidas
Committed to Michigan Tech
Meiners will be one of a few athletes competing this weekend who are heading to Michigan Tech, a D2 national tournament team in 2019. Meiners has been building a ton of momentum the past year as a dynamic middle for Capital Volleyball Academy out of Madison, WI.
Natalie Stefanski – Club 1 Skronkstrong
Committed To Lewis
Stefanski is a key part of the mix for Club 1 out of the Chicago area. An athlete who can set and hit, she will stay local and play for Lewis University, a Southwest suburb of Chicago that is always a top contender in Division 2.
Lia Moore – Chicago Elite 18 Elite
Committed to Michigan State
Moore is staying in Big Ten country heading to Michigan State. The extremely athletic pin hitter is back on track after being sidelined by an injury, but with her ability to score points from multiple spots on the court will be key to the Chicago 18 Elite success this weekend.
