Fox Valley Performance Volleyball (FVP) has a number of players to keep an eye on from their older teams. This year’s FVP 18 Blue squad showed plenty of promise at the Prep Dig Resolution, and they battled in the 1st weekend of Badger Region Power League taking some tough teams to a deciding 3rd set. Here’s a summary of what I saw from them at the Resolution Tournament.
FVP G18-Blue
Harleigh EaganHere’s a loaded group that is solid at each position. Oshkosh Lourdes head coach, Trudi Woods, coaches this team that includes a number of 2021’s and a 2022 playing up an age to join this squad. Their 2021 setter, Harleigh Eagan (5’6 – Wautoma), was part of a strong Wautoma squad in 2019 that went 20-9, and Eagan will return to feed Marquette commit, Hattie Bray. Eagan has a wicked float serve that challenges passers and catches them high.
Megan Kleinheinz
Megan Kleinheinz (2021 – 5’6 – Setter/Right Side – Winneconne) is another athlete playing up an age level. Kleinheinz led her high school team as a setter to a 30-3 record with a well-timed setter dump and well-placed sets. Shayla Reese (2021 – Outside Hitter – Chilton) plays up with the 18’s as someone who can give depth to the outside hitter position.
Jocelin Feutz
In the middle, FVP has Anna Denis, Jocelin Feutz and Karisa Nietzer (2020 – Gresham Community). This trio keeps teams guessing, while Nietzer plays smart up at the net and places a tip in the 4 corner, Feutz takes a heavy swing in the split and protects the net. Then Denis comes up and throws the ball back across her body for a kill or just hangs in the air to get the block. Nietzer also plays right side and takes a fast swing on a quick tempo ball behind the setter.
Makenzie MichaelIf that wasn’t enough, the team also has right side hitter Margaret Oldenburg (2021 – Neenah) and outside hitter Madelyn Paczkowski (2022 – Roncalli). Paczkowski has a high wrist snap and when she teams up with Feutz, they put up a really nice big block. The defense is led by Makenzie Michael (2021 – 5’7 – Outside Hitter/Libero – Kaukauna) and Defensive Specialist Emily Willihnganz (2021 – 5’6 – De Pere). FVP will have this weekend off before getting back to business at the FVP Classic #2.
