This weekend 40 of the best teams from Minnesota and Iowa will gather for the Mizuno M1 Elite Scrimmage held in Rochester. This is one of the biggest events outside of the cities in terms of drawing premier talent.
Mizuno M1 The unofficial “home” team who’s reputation speaks for itself. Just look for some of the tallest players in the gym and it will likely be M1’s Sophie Jessewitz (17’s team & 6’4” Wayzata), Kathleen Bishop (18’s team & 6’3” St Paul Academy), or Kristina Felknor (16’s team & 6’1 Minnetonka). This is the first look we get at M1 and with some of the biggest recruits and state champions we will want to catch them all!
MN North will be bringing four teams to the scrimmage. Their numbers seem to be growing, along with talent. A great group of coaches are providing opportunities for the Duluth area to compete against the best. Although a few of their teams will be shorter compared to some of the big guns of MN Lights and M1, these athletes are typically 2 or 3 sport athletes and bring their athleticism.
