And as most club directors know, you they will take anyone who possess at least one of the mentioned traits. It can be a challenge finding coaches and assistants. Between schedules, parents, pay, and interest good coaches are hard to find. Here is a look at some of the top coaches for top clubs.
Laura Kasey: Last year, Crossfire Volleyball added years of experience and expertise to their program with Laura joining as the Coach Training Consultant. Such a great concept for a club; a person whose whole purpose is to help grow great coaches and players alike. If you follow Gopher volleyball at all, it hard to miss the tall, former player. She joined the Gopher’s staff in 2015 and has received much of the credit for success related to the Tapp sisters.
Maddie Beal: Another part of the Gopher Volleyball family is Maddie. She has been an assistant coach for Vital Volleyball Volleyball Club 16-1’s on and off since her time as Gopher co-captain. Young players on opposing teams almost always spot the 6’1” athlete at the start of the weekend. Although her coaching style is much calmer than when she takes the court. The young players at Vital Volleyball respect and look up to her and see that her success is attainable.
Nicole Johnson: Miuzno M1 knows the importance of training setters. A fairly newer coach, Nicole, was a great setter from Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] who played at University of Illinois at Chicago. Included in her list of accomplishments, is her becoming the all-time assist record holder for UIC. She is the assistant coach for M1 17-1. This is one coach we are sure is still scrimmaging with the team.
Julie Rainey: Growing program, MN North, understands that having a college near is the best place to find good help. Julie was a stand-out Libero for the UMD Bulldogs and is the assistant coach for the 16-1’s. She is skilled, positive and relate-able to young athletes. She graduated in 2014 and has become a fixture for the North club.
Jenna Willenborg: This Minnesota native from Stewartville High school, now has taken her love for the game to Iowa. She is the assistant coach for the Iowa Heart 16 Red team. The 5’10” hitter was credited with breaking the Tiger’s losing streak when she helped them capture the state championship in 2014. Her knowledge of the fundamentals and her ability to engage players makes her top coach in training.
