Continue ReadingThe Mankato area has a new club that has been gaining popularity since it started in 2014. The founders met the needs of players in the area. At tryouts they had over 150 athletes try out from more than 30 schools in the area. They were able to form 17 teams. Four of those are 17’s and 18’s. Keep an eye out for this new club and some of their top players:
18-1’s
- Gabrielle Drews – Maple River 2021- Who has literally played every position. On her high school team she has set, played middle and this year mostly on the outside. Her team finished in the top half of the Gopher Valley Conference. Thanks to their decision to move her to the outside.
- Korryn Karau – St. James Area 2020 – Karau, now a senior, has developed into a multi-dimensional player. She was name Honorable Mention – All Conference for the Big South -East. Look for her to be one of their primary passers and a top server.
17-1’s
- Abbie Theusch – Alden Conger 2021 – Theusch brings power and height (5’11”) to her team. She was first team All-Valley Conference this year as a junior and has already reached 1,000+ kills. She will be a leader for this 17-1’s team as they face older competition at the 18’s level.
- Kylie Korman – Alden Conger 2021 – Joining Theusch is her high school teammate Korman. And she is a solid player who consistently adds depth in all areas, specifically serving. She rarely misses while tallying handfuls of aces. This high school season she gave Alden an edge over competition with 40+ service aces.
17-2’s
- Jaedan Nachreiner – Gibbon Fairfax-Winthrop 2021- Although in high school she is found mostly swinging on the right-side, we think she’d make an incredible hitter. Her cross body shot and strong blocking ability could definitely help during the club season against the competitions big hitters.
17-3’s
- Megan Walz – Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 2021 – While you may not hear much from JWP or teams in the Valley, Walz is a 5’10” hitter with a evident love for the game. She worked the whole high school season to put her team in a position to compete despite a losing record. MN Attack will help players like Megan elevate their play.
