The matches I think will be fun to watch include Premier 17 Gold v. VCN 18 Elite; VCN 17 Elite v. NE Elite 17 Apex, Colorado Juniors v. Nebraska Juniors 17/18 and Premier 16 Gold v. VCN 16 Elite. Some top-notch volleyball this weekend!
Let’s take a look at players to watch. Lots of high-level players and college commits in this scrimmage.
Elite 18’s:
Atley Carey, 6’2″ Waverly, NE. Atley was out for a knee injury last year! I’m excited to watch her get back in her groove for club. She’s heading to South Dakota
Tria Mclean–committed to Ohio University
Katie Kilzer, libero from Marian
This team should be fun to watch
Elite 17’s:
Rylee Gray–Committed to University of Nebraska
Allie Gray, Setter–committed to Arizona State
Brilee Weisler– Libero–committed to University of Nebraska Omaha
This team has a lot of fire power and the potential to be great! Excited to see them start the season!
Premier Nebraska 17’s:
Lindsay Krause–University of Nebraska. This highly decorated athlete is hard to stop. Her back row attacking has taken a notch up and adds just another weapon to her toolbag. She was recently named Gatorade Player of the Year Nebraska along with many other accolades.
Norah Sis–Creighton University. Norah is also a highly-touted athlete with many awards including Super Stater.
This team has a fantastic setter in Phyona Schrader, committed to Notre Dame. This team is super competitive and expected to do very well nationally this season.
VCNebraska 18 Elite:
This looks to be one of the most loaded teams in the midwest, with 6 Division 1 and 2 Division 2 recruits. VCNebraska 18 Elite will be an offensive machine with Kalynn Meyer (6’3″ 2020 Nebraska), Bekka Allick (6’3″ 2022 Nebraska) and Abby Plouzek (6’3″ 2020 University of Nebraska-Omaha) taking turns in the middle and on the rightside. 2020 Nebraska recruit Annika Evans and 2021 USC recruit Elle Glock will be dishing up assists at the setter position, both of whom put up an aggressive block in the front row. The outside hitter position is manned by three juniors, Kylen Sealock (uncommitted) and Whitney Lauenstein (2021 Nebraska), and Elise Gilroy (uncommitted). All 3 produce kills in different ways from both pins, which will give teams fits when VCN 18 Elite can ball control. Senior Cora McCoid (2020 Augustana) is a new addition to this group, but she will make an immediate impact defensively and in serve receive. Lefty Rightside Carly Rodaway will continue to be a threat before she heads off to Fort Hays State in the summer.
VCNebraska 17 Elite:
Liz Tomlin–Libero, committed to Chattanogo
Mya Larson, Wahoo (2022)
Kallie Kroeker–middle who CAN and does play 6-rotations for her Norris high school team
Nebraska Juniors 18’s:
Eve Fountain–OH/DS–Committed to Bellevue
Lauren Taubenheim, OH-Committed to Kearney
Barrett Power, S–Colorado State
Nebraska Juniors 17’s:
Molly Ramsey –L/DS–Committed to Kansas State
Alexis Markowski–Committed to play basketball at South Dakota State. She’s a force at the net with her physicality.
Ava LeGrand–Setter (2022). Ava has great hands and a nice all-around game having also played OH last year.
