The floor general for the 2019 class 2A Minnesota state champions at Stewartville, Brower has great competitive experience. With a squad that featured some of the most prolific attackers in the state, Brower did a great job of involving them all well and providing decisions and distribution that put her hitters in a position to be successful often. Perhaps overlooked due to her size, she has great movement around the floor, can distribute all locations and tempos, and also brings a well-rounded game as a defender and from the service line. A 2019 Hiawatha Valley all-conference selection, she is playing up this club season for SMV 18-Black and next compete this weekend at the JVA MKE Jamboree in Milwaukee.
Emma Grimm – 5’9 | OH | Club: M1 171 | Prep Dig #52
Grimm has a dynamic presence on the floor as a six-rotation athlete. She has all the tools to be a key contributor for this M1 team that has good attacking depth and high hopes for a lot of success in the coming months. As an a attacker she creates good momentum and elevates at 5’9. Her best attacking attribute is what she can do with her arm once she is in the air. She can bring a lot of pace but can also move the ball around to terminate with power through multiple zones in both the shallow and deep court. She has great presence and awareness to score off speed also. She has a and aggressive and relentless quality to her arm swing. She has a good foundation with her ball control and her quickness allows her to cover a lot of floor defensively, which includes a fast move at the net when blocking to get on attackers in a hurry. You can see her and her team compete this weekend at the NLQ as they open play as the #3 seed in Pool 1 in the 17 Open division.
Kelly MacArthur – 6’2 | S/Opp | Club: Northern Lights 17-2 | Prep Dig #53
MacArther definitely has the size and length that is coveted for the setting role. She continues to improve in all areas from her footwork and mobility, to her hand position, her decision making, and location. She has a good foundation in her skills and is also adding more depth to her toolbox in other areas of her game that will continue to improve her stock and impact. She understands when to attack the ball on the second contact and makes good use of those opportunities. Her length also makes her a big presence at the net versus left pin attackers. Sharing time at the setting position for her Bloomington Jefferson high school squad, the experience she will gain with this competitive NL 17-2 team will help continue her skill growth while also putting her in some really great competitive opportunities. This team is competing this weekend at the NLQ.
Riley Walsh – 6’0 | OH | Club: M1 171 | Prep Dig #55
An Independent Metro all-conference selection, Walsh brings a lot of energy and action from the left pin. She has good size and gets up well, which allows her to use her high elbow swing to overcome most blocks in front of her. She has good athleticism and commands the ball well through her confidence, movement and ability to terminate through various zones, and that she can score points. As a six-rotation prospect she will grow her stock by improving her patience and platform angles in serve-receive before making her move to attack. Defensively, she shows more patience and balance here and creates good range in pursuit of the ball. She has a lot of upside to her game given her presence and production. Her M1 team will be competing in the 17 Open division at the NLQ this weekend.
Abbey Milner – 6’3 | MH | Club: Northern Lights 17-Black | Prep Dig # 57
A key anchor to the middle position for a highly competitive Lakeville North team, Milner is competing this club season for Northern Lights 17-Black. She continues to grow her skills and maturity regarding the middle role on both sides of the ball. She has good mobility to attack in front and behind the setter off of one foot. She also has good mechanics when blocking that allows her to fill up space at the net and make things difficult for opposing attackers. She helped her Panther teammates to the state tournament in 2019 in class 3A that concluded with a consolation bracket win. She and her teammates are next competing at the NLQ this weekend.
