U15 – Team Momentum 15 Navy
Team Momentum Navy U15 dropped just one set in the first Gateway League weekend, finishing 3-0. That includes a win against TESL Black. Team Momentum . Avery Stanfill leads the team defensively and had a standout season as a freshman at Westminster Christian Academy. Her 208 digs led Westminster. The libero was also second on the team in aces with 22. STL Crossfire came out stong in the opening weekend, not having much trouble with H2 teams in its way on January 5. Going into this weekend, they take on a mighty H2 STL 16 ILL Mont Clair team to kick things off in the morning before having to face one of its own in Crossfire 16 L1 later in the day. Amelia Thro, who helped Orchard Farm reach a Class 3 district final, before falling to St. Dominic, leads crossfire T1. The setter had 458 assists on the year for the Eagles in her junior campaign.
U16 – Team Momentum 16 Orange
Team Momentum 16 Orange dropped its first set of the day – and badly – to Missouri Volleyball Academy. It very nearly dropped its second set of the day, but found a way to battle back to take the set, 26-24. And that was that. Momentum learned from that narrow escape and dominated for the rest of the day. Middle blocker Sara Hendry saw significant playing time in her sophomore year at Parkway North High School and hopes to carry Momentum in this league and further in this 2020 club season.
H2 STL 17 Under Armour
In the opening match of the day last week, Aces VBC took H2 STL 17 Under Armour to three sets. After dropping the second set of the opening match, H2 decided that was enough of that and didn’t drop a set for the rest of the day – was dominant in their wins. Lexi Menne is on H2’s roster as a freshman and had a standout season for Windsor High School in Imperial. As an outside, she had 202 kills, 198 digs and 38 service aces for the Owls in 2019, good enough for honorable mention all-conference honors. For H2, she is working primarily as a libero.
