Wachholz is one of a few young prospects from Mayer Lutheran that are doing big things for the respective club teams. She played a key role on the pins for the Crusaders during their deep post season run that fell just shy of the state tournament. She is a lefty that is crafty on the outside and has a well-rounded skill set that is reminiscent of a good beach player with average height by volleyball standards. She has good elevation and can score with speed and finesse coming off of her arm. As a freshman on one of the most successful class A programs in the state she provides maturity and competitiveness that not all possess at this stage of their young careers.
Marlie Hanson – 5’11 | OH | MN Select 15-2
Hanson has potential to be a big contributor from the pins as she progresses through her prep career. She has good size and athleticism and is developing through great experience with time as a varsity team member for class 3A power Champlin Park and among the top 15s teams with MN Select. She shows good footwork patterns in both serve receive and transition that put her in good position to develop momentum in pursuit of the ball, which involves ability to get her feet to the ball so she can consistently jump on balance. She will be a stock riser as her six-rotation skills continue to develop.
Emily Ramsay – 5’9 | OH | M1 15-1
With a big double arm lift as part of her approach work, Ramsay often gets herself into position to swing at the peak of her jump with good arm work at the top to develop torque and pace through her contact. Because of that elevation and balance she has good arm control in response to what the defense puts in front of her at the net. She shows good poise in attacking with heat, to challenge a block, or to take the defense off balance with an off speed shot. She is a key element to this M1 offense and is proving she can score points through big work load on the outside. She also contributes well defensively at the net and swing from the opposite pin.
Sydney McDaniel – 5’11 | RS | MN Select 15-1
McDaniel has a good attacking foundation as she is athletic, left handed, and can swing effectively from both sides of the court. She has a ton of upside to her game and could emerge as one of the best lefties in this class. Upon good footwork and balance she has shown ability to get on the ball with good power and movement. She can be just as effective on the defensive side with a dynamic block move that involves good eye work and strong hand penetration across the net. Keep an eye on McDaniel as one that could rise to the upper ranks of what is already proving to be a deeply talented Minnesota class of athletes.
