Lauren Welch (5’5) : Lauren is the Libero of NKYVC 17 Tide and is a DS/L for Ryle High School. While on the quiet side, her court movement and ability to read early on serve receive allowed her to lead in the back court. Her relentless effort on defense protected the middle of the court well; allowing the off-blocker to transition early.Welch led her team to a second place finish in 17 Open.
Kylie Kohrs (5’5) : Kylie is the Libero of NKYVC 17 Typhoon and Newport Central Catholic High School. Kohrs dominated defensively during the weekend in a tough 17 Open Division. Her movement from left-back into the middle-back seam made it difficult for teams to score in zones 5 or 6. She managed the teams ball control; moving fluidly from left back to right back. Her court presence and energy is a testament to her position as a Libero.
Natalie Bessler (5’5) : Natalie is a first year Libero on NKYVC 15 Typhoon and is a Setter at Notre Dame Academy. Natalies’ speed an ability to redirect quickly on defense allowed her to step in to the Libero position with great success. Even if Bessler misread the attack she made great movement to create a playable dig. Besslers’ experience as a setter influenced strong out-of-system control as well.
Christy Hume (5’3) : Christy is the Libero for NKYVC 16 Tide and is a DS/L for Cooper High School. While partially absent during the first day of play, she returned to the court on Sunday with a vengeance. Hume in the libero position brings much needed steady ball control to serve receive. Her ability to control the ball with pace- from defense, serve receive, and free ball- allowed the teams offense to run with peak execution.
