Some pins truly stood out this weekend. They made plays happen, in and out of system, and were great go-to hitters for there team. Here are some of the top powerhouse pin hitters from the weekend!
Maleah Howe – Milwaukee Sting 16 Gold – Class of 2022 – Prep Dig Rank #3
I actually think Maleah is better out of system than in system. She can make a powerful yet controlled hit from nearly anywhere on the court. Maleah also seems to have the ability to put the ball exactly where she wants it, every single time. Not only is her offense impressive but her defense and serve receive was incredibly impactful on her team’s 1st place finish in the 17s division at the Jamboree.
Dorci Walker – Wisconsin Ice 16 Purple – Class of 2022 – Prep Dig Rank #14
Wow, can Dorci pound a ball! She is one of the go-to hitters on this Wisconsin Ice team. Dorci impressed at the Prep Dig Top 250 Expo and has only continued to improve. She can hit consistently out of all three spots in the front row making her a dangerous opponent.
Grace Holschuh – FC Elite Flyers 18 Navy – Class of 2022 – Prep Dig Rank #47
Watching Grace play you would never know she is only a sophomore. She has an insane amount of power and great form too. Grace takes an explosive approach and plays with the intensity and smarts of athletes years older than she is. Her ability to hit well off of nearly any set is a huge advantage for this Flyers team.
Katie Heidenrich – Sting Burlington 16-1 – Class of 2022
I saw Katie in warm-ups and knew I needed to stay and watch the match. She was impressive to say the least (as were many athletes on this team)! She has a confident presence on the court and is a natural leader. Her court awareness is top-notch and she is not afraid to be aggressive. Katie is great on defense and serve recieve as well.
Lily Wagner – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold – Class of 2023 – Prep Dig Watchlist
Lily knows how to make big plays. She is the kind of hitter you can throw a set up to and know it will not only go over but also go to a good spot with power on it. She is extremely competitive and is a fun athlete to watch.
Kyla Dunaway – FC Elite 15 Navy – Class of 2023 – Prep Dig Watchlist
Kyla is an impressive athlete. Her sheer power is impressive in and of itself but she has great control and a naturally high volleyball IQ. She is very impactful as a blocker and always knows her shots on offense. Kyla had a great freshman season at Kimberly and is set to have an even stronger club season this spring.
Anna VanWormer – 1W 17 Bay Mizuno – Class of 2021
Not only was Ava solid on the pin but she is a huge talker as well. She is very productive on the court and brings a lot of energy on every play. Anna was impressive all around and even when her team was down or in a slump she was positive and putting forth every ounce of effort she had.
Robyn Kirsch – Wisconsin Ice 17 Purple – Class of 2021 – Prep Dig Rank #40
Robyn is a powerhouse all-around athlete. Her vertical is insane and she brings an intensity and energy to the court that is hard to duplicate. Robyn is a 6-rotation outside and she truly is an all-around athlete. She will dive into the stands to save a shanked ball and be back on the court within seconds ready for the next ball.
These pins were not only great athletes but great teammates throughout the weekend. They were able to get the job done whether it was on offense or defense. Many of them stood out as leaders on their respective teams and all of them showed grit and determination on the court.
