The A Bracket matches were absolute battles between teams and it is during these intense matches that an athlete’s grit, determination, and skill start to shine. I am a 14’s coach whose team played directly after the 18 Elite division so while I was not able to see a ton of matches, everywhere I looked athletes were impressing. Here are some of the standout athletes from this past weekend in the 18 Elite Division!
Brianna Geurts – Class of 2021 – FC Elite 17 Navy – Prep Dig Rank #39
Brianna showed her power and volleyball smarts this weekend throughout the tournament. She was essential on both offense and as a blocker on defense. Her energy, focus, and intensity on the court are almost as good as her raw volleyball talent making her a great all-around athlete and leader on this team.
Katherine Walch – Class of 2020 – FC Elite 18 Navy – Committed to Michigan Tech – Prep Dig Rank #32
Katherine is a fierce defender and competitor. She played at a high level this weekend, leading her team in the backcourt, making great digs on defense, and consistently putting up a pass on serve receive. She is a consistent force for this FC Elite 18 Navy team and a key piece in their success this weekend.
Chloee Epker – Class of 2021 – Motion 17 Blue – Prep Dig Rank #78
Chloee is a very talented setter and complements fellow setter, Katelyn Lefler (Committed to Illinois State), very well. She has very clean and consistent sets and hustles to better every ball. She always seems in control of the court and is also a very smart setter.
Hailey Boelter-Eberhardt – Class of 2021 – Midwest Penguins 17-Black – Prep Dig Rank #86
Hailey’s consistency both in setting and serving was hugely beneficial to this Penguins team. She is a very smart setter that can push the ball to the pins anywhere on the court. She also has a wicked float serve that earned her team many points throughout the weekend.
Nicole Censky – Class of 2020 – Motion 18 Blue – Prep Dig Rank #49 – Committed to UW-Oshkosh
Nicole is a very talented all-around player. She is always making an impact on the court and works just as hard on the first point as the last. Her power on the pins is impressive, to say the least, and she a talented leader as well.
These athletes not only played tough but were also great leaders. As the class of 2020 athletes look to finish out their club careers strong and the 2021 athletes hope to make a good impression going into the recruiting season, they are all playing at their best. Many of these teams will now be looking into President’s Day weekend where they will be traveling across the country to compete.
