Emma KowalczykEmma Kowalcyk – Revolution Volleyball Academy – 17 Navy Catholic Memorial
Catholic Memorial dealt with injuries this past season and wasn’t at the top of the Classic 8 as they have historically been. One of the more consistent aspects of their game was their setters. The Crusaders employed a three-headed monster at the setting position led by Emma. She finished the season on top with 391 assists and a team-high 4.3 assists a set. CMH will come back stronger in 2020 after only graduating their go to swing and leader in Carly Clausen. A competitive club schedule with RVA will set Emma up to grab hold of the setting reigns at CMH once again in her senior season. At 5’9″ with long arms, she is a “sneaky” front-row presence with the ability to put up a solid block and swing if need be as well.
Ella Foti Ella Foti 6'0" | S Madison Edgewood | 2021 State WI – Captial Volleyball Academy 18 Adidas – Edgewood – Marquette (Featured Image)
There are few players where words aren’t good enough. You need to just watch Ella play and see why Marquette was quick to scoop her up. She is officially back and firing on all cylinders after a knee injury took her away from court. The 2019 high school season saw Foti finish 2nd on her team in kills and assists while adjusting back to the everyday volleyball grind. There are few setters that can also go swing away on either pin in serve receive and the next ball set the perfect against the flow set leaving a one-on-one attack. Capital 18 Adidas has a fully loaded squad that is playing at a level that is going to make Foti a nightmare matchup for all opponents during her senior season.
Natalie Tesch Natalie Tesch 5'10" | S Wisconsin Lutheran | 2021 State WI – Milwaukee Sting 17 Black – Wisconsin Lutheran
[player_tooltip player_id="80722" first="Natalie" last="Tesch"] (left) with the blockAlthough you couldn’t tell by watching Natalie play, she has just begun her setting journey. The 2019 high school season was her first season of focusing on that craft. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in effort, going above and beyond what is expected every time she steps on the court. Natalie is the type of setter than I have wanted for my own teams…left-handed, plays taller than her 5’10 listed height, and loves to set against the grain to give her hitters solo blocks. There is something about a setter who is confident setting the ball to a spot where the defense doesn’t expect it to go. She continues to force her coaches to keep her on the court running a 6-2 to utilize her explosive swing and deadly serve. Tesch is the type of setter that you trust to get a touch on 99% of balls that your defensive gets touches on. Speed, explosive vertical, and the desire to be the best has Natalie in line to be a coach’s dream at the next level.
