As a coach, having a dynamic and athletic outside who can consistently take control of the game on offense, play solid defense, and pass nails on serve receive is a vital piece of the puzzle to a successful, well-rounded team. These freshmen will be valuable assets to their future college teams as leaders on the outside.
Krista Dooley Krista Dooley 6'3" | OH Plano East | 2023 State #94 Nation TX – Plano East HS
One of the best outsides in the freshman class, Krista has coordination that allows her to see the court well. Her height at 6’3” gives her the ability to hit around blocks and hit off-speed shots around defenses. Off of transition, she can swing well across the front line. On her approach, she can touch 10’ which gives her an advantage on the pins at such a young age.
Sydney Jordan Sydney Jordan 6'3" | OH Ridge Point | 2023 State #44 Nation TX – Ridge Point HS
At OH, Sydney is a force to be reckoned with. She plays all the way around and is one of the best freshman players in the state. On the pin, she hits with a quick arm and has a stellar hitting percentage. As a freshman, she stands at 6’3” and uses all of her height to her advantage on the back row as well as an attacker and defender. Sydney will be a valuable asset to a college team in the future.
Kyndal Stowers Kyndal Stowers 6'0" | OH Guyver | 2023 State #8 Nation TX – Guyer HS
Kyndal has a heavy arm on the outside and quick reflexes on defense. As a freshman, she sees the court and makes plays with volleyball savvy beyond her years. In 2019, she was named Sports Day HS Volleyball Newcomer of the Year as she led her team as a 6-rotation player. She is a leader by example on the court that coaches will be vying for as she will be highly recruited.
Emily Simmons Emily Simmons 5'10" | OH Eaton | 2023 State #169 Nation TX – Eaton HS (Ft. Worth)
Another big OH, Emily is a triple threat. She can hammer the ball on the offense, hustle on defense, and shut down the opposition on the block. She is the definition of a playmaker – makes a crazy dig on defense and immediately transitions, ready to pound an out of system ball around the block. As a coach, Emily is exactly what you want in a young, moldable outside that can play all around and lead a team to championships.
Mackenzie Plante Mackenzie Plante 6'0" | OH Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX – Lake Travis HS
Mackenzie has a high volleyball IQ – she makes smart plays and stays disciplined even in chaotic rallies that bring a leadership quality to the court. On the outside, Mackenzie transitions well from serve receive and can hit off-speed shots around the defense like a pro. She also plays defense well and can transition in the back row to run pipes in an out of system offense.
