Here are five underrated 1st Region players.
Ashley Bremmerkamp: A sophomore right side, Bremmerkamp is a student-athlete from Marshall County High School. Bremmerkamp posted 83 kills and 121 digs in 36 matches for Marshall County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. The Marshall County junior-to-be excels attacking the ball when receiving a set and digging for quick attacks. Bremmerkamp continues to grow as a blocker and is due for a breakout season later in the year.
Madison Dowdy: A junior defensive specialist/opposite, Dowdy is a student-athlete from Hickman County High School. Dowdy helped Hickman County remain on top in the 1st District and return to the 1st Region Volleyball Tournament in 2019, compiling 58 kills, 175 digs and 34 service aces in 34 matches. With the ability to make an impact offensively or defensively, Dowdy produces as a back row hitter. The Hickman County senior-to-be digs for quick attacks regularly and works efficiently with middle hitters/blockers.
Adele Mavigliano: A junior middle blocker, Mavigliano is a student-athlete from McCracken County High School. Mavigliano played in all 41 matches for 1st Region champion McCracken County in 2019, posting 132 kills. Ranking fourth in kills for McCracken County during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Mavigliano is stout at the net. Mavigliano uses both hands well and reads opposing hitters accurately.
Emily Oliver Emily Oliver MB Graves County | 2022 State KY : A sophomore middle blocker, Oliver is a student-athlete from Graves County High School. Oliver recorded 150 kills, 70 blocks, 63 digs and 59 service aces for 3rd District champion and 1st Region runner-up Graves County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. The productive Oliver led Graves County in blocks last season. A skilled blocker, Oliver works well defensively in tandem or individually and provides a strong presence at the net.
Bryce O’Neil: A sophomore right side/outside hitter, O’Neil is a student-athlete from Graves County High School. O’Neil was a key player for 3rd District runner-up and 1st Region semifinalist Ballard Memorial in 2019, registering 93 kills and 81 digs in the team’s 39 matches. Having shown the ability to be productive hitting from either side, O’Neil possesses quickness and is explosive at the net.
