Where stats and accolades don’t tell the full story of a recruit, track and field might just fill in the blanks.

The spring track and field season is on hold in Iowa, but a closer look at running, jumping and throwing totals is a way to gauge raw athleticism in Hawkeye State prospects. Using, PrepDig cross-referenced its rankings with how recruits fared on the track.

NOTE: We used QuikStats’ figures from the 2019 track season because it represents the most recent, comprehensive data set. While Iowa indoor track season was underway just prior to the shutdown of sports, not every high school had participated in meets, which would’ve excluded athletes on the list.

Here is a look at Iowa athletes in our rankings for the 2022 class from the 2019 track season:

Class of 2022

Macy Daufeldt Macy Daufeldt 5'10" | OH West Liberty | 2022 State IA

School: West Liberty

PrepDig rank: 2

Commitment: Drake

Club: Iowa Rockets

Long jump: 17-7.75

100 dash: 13.24

200 dash: 28.71

Comment: No wonder Drake coveted her so much. Daufeldt’s best long jump as a freshman last year was good for third in Class 2A and she flashed some speed on the track as well.

Lauren Carter Lauren Carter 5'11" | S Winterset | 2022 State IA

School: Winterset
