Graduates of 2020:
Jordyn Blaha (2020, OH)
Jordyn was a 6-rotation outside hitter for the 2019 season. She played in 86 of the 92 sets played in 2019. She had 2.02 KPS, .860 serve efficiency with 42 aces, 2.33 DPS, and 27 total blocks, 3 of which were solo blocks. As the second outside hitter last fall, Jordyn will really be missed and it will be difficult to fill her shoes.
Bel Pershing (2020, Middle)
Bel played in 85 of the 92 sets played by the Saintes last fall. She had 1.16 KPS, 2 aces, and team-high 50 total blocks. She will be missed and the Saintes will need to replace those blocks next fall.
Veronica Svajgl (2020, Middle)
Veronica was a 6-rotation middle for the Saintes in 2019. She played in all 92 sets the Saintes played last fall. She had .79 KPS, .906 serve efficiency with 18 aces, 1.54 DPS, and 37 total blocks. She was part of the stability of this team and will be missed on the court in 2020.
Olivia Barnes (2020, Setter)
Olivia was a 6-rotation setter for the Saintes in 2019. She also played in all 92 sets played by the Saintes in 2019. She had .924 serve efficiency with 31 aces, 8.97 APS, 1.96 DPS, and 18 total blocks. As the court leader for this team, she will be missed next year.
Shelby Hatcher (2020, DS)
Shelby was a DS last fall for the Saintes in 76 of 92 sets. She had the highest serve efficiency with .944 and second-highest aces with 39, she was third-highest in digs per set with 2.16, and also had 3 total blocks.
St.Albert has always been good at getting their points where they can. While not all of the stats above are individually outstanding, together they equal a state-qualifying season for the Saintes last fall. Let’s look at who they have to begin to build it again for 2020.
Remaining Players:
Allie Petry Allie Petry 5'7" | DS/L Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA (2021, OH)
Allie is a 6-rotation outside hitter for the Saintes who played in all 92 sets in 2019 and will be returning for her senior season in 2020. She had a team-high 4.85 KPS, .819 serve efficiency with 31 aces, a team-high 2.91 DPS, and 39 total blocks, 8 of which were solo blocks. Allie is a great player to have on the roster to build a team with next fall and try for another trip to state. She is the key offensive player, and maybe defensive as well, on this team. I cannot wait to see how much she grows before her senior year and what legacy she leaves behind before enrolling in Iowa State in the fall of 2021.
Lauren Williams (2022, Right, MB)
Lauren is a beast in the middle and on the right side. Only a sophomore in 2019, she played in 67 of the 92 sets played by the Saintes. She had 2.10 KPS and 29 total blocks…not bad for a sophomore. She is one of the better middles I have seen this past year and looks really good on the right as well. Wherever she plays in 2020, she will be great.
Maddie Estell (2021, DS)
Maddie is a DS for the Saintes with .940 serve efficiency with 11 aces and 1.80 DPS in all of the 92 sets played by the Saintes in 2019. She will provide stability in the back row for the Saintes in 2020, her senior season.
Lainey Sheffield, class of 2022.Lainey Sheffield (2022, OH/RS)
Lainey played in 20 of the 92 sets the Saintes played her Sophomore season and had 12 kills, .905 serve efficiency with 7 aces, 1.75 DPS, and 4 blocks. She is a fireball and I look to see Lainey really step up for her junior season to help fill some of the holes left by the graduating class.
Maddy Horvath, class of 2022.
Maddy Horvath (2022, Setter)
Maddy is a setter with great parity. She knows where her hitters are and sets them the ball where they like it. She will be the new offensive leader on the court and I think is ready to show everyone what she can do. She had 1.25 APS and 2 aces during the 4 sets she played in 2019 for the Saintes.
Mia Allmon, class of 2022.
Mia Allmon (2022, OH/R)
Mia is an outside hitter/Right side for the Saintes. Having only played in one set for the Saintes in 2019 it will be interesting to see what she brings to the court in 2020.
Landry Miller (2023, DS)
Landry played in 6 sets for the Saintes in 2019, her freshman season. She had 1.83 DPS. We will definitely see more of her in 2020.
Allison Narmi (2022, Middle)
Allison is a middle blocker for the Saintes. Having only played in one set in 2019, she will be counted on for a much bigger contribution for 2020. I watched her play at an AAU tournament at Red Oak this winter and I think she is up to the task. A summer of hard work will have her ready to take on any opposition on the court.
Transfer:
Elizabeth Elkins, class of 2021.Elizabeth Elkins (2021, OH)
Elizabeth Elkins is a 6-rotation outside hitter from Thomas Jefferson. Her stats last fall at Thomas Jefferson were 2.39 KPS, .815 serve efficiency with 46 aces, 2.16 DPS, and 19 total blocks. She should help fill some holes left by the graduating class of 2020 and help this team return to state.
