Sarah Casper Sarah Casper 5'11" | OH Cathedral | 2021 State IN , 5-11, OH, Academy 17 Tsunami (17-1), Cathedral High School
Leading off our list of must-see players is Sarah Casper Sarah Casper 5'11" | OH Cathedral | 2021 State IN , a do-everything pin attacker that shouldn’t ever come out of the game. She can receive serve, defend, block, terminate, and quietly leads Corky Robertson’s team to multiple tournament victories in this truncated club season. Her attack touch is 9-6 and rising, and she’s known nothing but winning—Cathedral is one of the more storied programs in the state.
Ashleigh White Ashleigh White 5'11" | OH Lawrence North | 2021 State IN , 5-11, OH, Academy 17 Tsunami (17-1), Lawrence North High School
Sarah’s opposite, Ashleigh, has just recently moved to the left pin after years as either a middle or a right side. Slowly learning the defensive responsibilities of an outside hitter, Miss White is also THIS close to hitting the ten foot attack touch marker (currently 9-10), and, unlike Sarah, is an absolute hammer. And blocking isn’t an issue; she blocked everyone she went against as a middle last year. Moving to the left pin just made her job easier.
Bella Schumacher Bella Schumacher 5'7" | DS/L Brebeuf Jesuit | 2021 State IN , 5-6, DS, Academy 17 Tsunami (17-1), Brebeuf Jesuit High School
We wrap up the top three players from Indy who happen to be on the same club team. Bella has split time between wearing the special jersey to being a primary-passing three rotation DS, and can excel at both. Her abilities to defend and receive serve help the top 17s program at Academy go.
Sydney Murray Sydney Murray 5'10" | RS North Central (Indianapolis) | 2021 State IN , 5-9, OH/RS, Team Indiana Elite 17 (17-1), North Central High School
Normally a basketball power, Syd is starting to make NC relevant in the state’s toughest volleyball conference in the fall, and plays the toughest open-level schedule she can find in the spring. As of this writing, Sydney is spending the majority of her time as a six-rotation outside, but can switch pins if the need arises. Also, her ability to defend in multiple positions is also on display. She remains smooth through the pass and never looks hurried. Additionally, she has all the attack angles in the book. This is a kid who gets overlooked, but shouldn’t. Keep an eye on this one.
ChaKira Spurlock ChaKira Spurlock 5'10" | OH Pike | 2021 State IN , 5-10, RS/OH, Team Indiana Elite 17 (17-1), Pike High School
Yet another kid from a “non-volleyball school”, ChaKira has all the tools to play any position along the net. Although she’s strictly front row in club, her high school program needs her to play all the way around, which she does just fine, thankyouverymuch. Fast to the jump and athletic acuity to spare, it’s only a matter of time before Miss Spurlock gets on SOMEONE’S radar, as she should already be receiving contacts as we type.
