Atlantis Clendenin Atlantis Clendenin 5'9" | OH Parke Heritage | 2021 State IN , ’21, 5-9, OH, Circle City 17 Purple, Parke Heritage High School
Atlantis brings a heavy arm and power not normally seen from a kid this size or from a school Parke Heritage’s size. Through is her preferred method of terminating, but is fully capable of going around and over any block she sees. One thing that does stand out for her is her ability to hit multiple types of topspin jump serves. She can hit a straight 12-6, a curve ball and even an occasional screw ball that goes to the left of serve receivers. Add to the tough spin is the weight she puts behind the ball, and most teams just hope that she misses to be able to side out.
Ariel Helm Ariel Helm 6'0" | MB Lawrence North | 2022 State IN , ’22, 6-0, MB, Team Indiana Elite 16, Lawrence North High School
Thanks in advance to Nick Wolf, coach at LN, who gave me the heads-up that Ariel’s transfer from North Central is official, and will play for the Wildcats in the fall. This is a major addition, as Ariel is an intimidating presence both in the attack and on defense. A converted basketball player, she’s easily pushing ten feet in her attack touch and can block pretty much anyone with her length.
Avery Hobson Avery Hobson 6'1" | OH Hamilton Southeastern | 2023 State IN , ’23, 5-11, OH, Academy 15 Elite Venom, Hamilton Southeastern High School
This is the first of two new additions to the rankings list. Avery is predicted by her coach and her club director that she should be one of the starting outsides for HSE’s top ten program, and is reloading for another state championship run under coach Jason Young. Her attack touch is creeping towards ten feet, and as a rising sophomore, has three full years of development to go. There will be updates to Avery’s play as the fall approaches. Stay tuned.
Anna Ballengee Anna Ballengee 5'10" | DS/L Barr-Reeve | 2021 State IN , ’21, 5-10, DS, Circle City 17 Purple, Barr-Reeve High School
A floor general for the top 17s team at Circle, Anna plays six rotations for her high school team, but will definitely pan out to be a libero at the next level. Anna quietly and confidently runs the defensive and serve receive show, and has yet to shy away from the pressure of such a task. If and when the club season resumes, I look forward to her team’s success at Nationals in Dallas.
Anna West Anna West 6'1" | MB Greensburg | 2021 State IN , ’21, 6-1, MB/OH, Cougar VBC, Greensburg High School
A small, regional club based in Seymour is where we find this diamond. Although listed as both a middle and an outside, her ability to play any front row position will serve her well when recruiters see her play. At present, Anna is a first-team All-State honoree from this past fall, while also spending time on their top ten basketball program as well. She’s almost hitting the ten-foot Mendoza line on her attack touch, and hits a heavy ball while going over most of the competition. More to come, as I get a chance to see her play live in the fall.
