Continue ReadingNow we are going to take a look at a program in the Southwest Preparatory Conference, Episcopal Knights. They had a great run in the SPC State tournament and took the title last year in 2019. 2020 should be a memorable year as they look to go back to back. They are a very athletic and high-powered team. We are going to introduce you to a few of their deadly attackers who are hungry for another State Title. Having a front line that is all over six feet tall is scary for their opponents. Without further ado, here are a few of their offensive leaders.
Cimone Woodard Cimone Woodard 6'2" | MB Episcopal | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-2 Middle (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline/ Verbal: Texas A&M)
Cimone comes in at number 45 on our State Rankings. This very athletic and super fast middle can flat out fly on the court. Her high school team loves to run many play-sets involving her crossing with the right side and running a slide behind her setter. She is so fast that she can catch up to any tempo the setter wants to run. They run every set at such a fast tempo that the opponents just cannot catch up. She scores at such a high rate out of the middle, its no wonder that A&M offered at such a young age. It is very good to be big, but it is even better to have that size and be fast. Cimone will step in right away and play well in the SEC for A&M in a few years. She should have a fantastic senior season. She has such a strong upper body that she can seal the net so well on the block.
Bria Woodard Bria Woodard 6'2" | OH Episcopal | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-2 Outside (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline/ Verbal: Texas A&M)
I know you did a double take. Yes they are twins. Yes they are both that good. Bria is ranked as the 40th best prospect in our State Rankings. She is the twin sister of Cimone that we just mentioned in the above highlight. She is blessed with super fast footwork that can get off of the ground so quickly. She primarily plays on the pins but can hit so well on both sides. She is also blessed with super long arms. The one aspect that stands out so easily is her lightning quick arm. She decimates the ball with that gift of an arm. When Episcopal runs the right side X play where she comes around from the right side and hits the second tempo in the middle it is almost unstoppable. It is a very scary play for their opponents. She is a skilled defender also. With her length, she has a very extended defensive range. This allows her to touch many balls that might be out of the normal range. With her sister, Episcopal will have another good shot at back to back Southwest Prepatory State Championships.
Sania Petties Sania Petties 6'1" | MB Episcopal | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-1 Middle (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Mississppi State)
Currently ranked as the 46th best prospect in the state according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, Sania is the real deal. She has accumulated over 500 kills in her three year varsity career. Her senior season will be one for the books as she will help lead her high school team to a back to back state title. She is a very athletic middle who transitions from defense to offense so fluidly. Her long arms make her a setter’s dream target out of the middle. She is committed to Mississippi State and should start right away in a few years. She is college ready with her super fast approach footwork. She is able to run both in front of the setter and behind. She shows her athleticism well in doing so. We are super excited to cover this young lady for one more senior season.
Morgan Perkins Morgan Perkins 6'1" | MB Episcopal | 2022 State #67 Nation TX [2022] 6-2 Middle/Right Side (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Oklahoma)
Morgan comes in ranked as the 12th best prospect in the 2022 class. She is also a Middle/Right Side who can bang. She is very tall and very athletic. She is a younger version of the three players we just mentioned. Morgan is a wall for her team as she blocks so well. She is blessed with great length in her arms which make her a very formidable blocker at the net. Opponents must be skilled at hitting around her otherwise she will shut them down. This helps her team tremendously as she can alter so many shots from her opponents. I really like the way she gets off of the ground so fast to run the quick tempos out of the middle. She still has two more years to terrorize her SPC opponents. We are expecting this young lady to do very well over the next few years as she looks to get ready to play at Oklahoma.
Ava Harrington Ava Harrington 6'2" | MB Episcopal | 2023 State #69 Nation TX [2023] 6-1 Middle/Right Side (HS: Episcopal/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava comes in as the 34th top prospect in the 2023 class. She is the next great athlete in the Episcopal pipeline. As a Freshman she has burst onto the scene and has shined very bright. Her athletic ceiling is so high and she will get scooped up by a top Div 1 program very soon. Episcopal will be a dominant force for the next three years with her patrolling the net. She is blessed with the same quickness and athleticism that we just wrote about with the above athletes. Ava has long arms and is a dominant force in the middle or on the pins. She hits the ball so well at such a young age. Her timing must be discussed as it is one of the attributes that really stands out. She is able to hit on top of the ball and go ten-foot line at will, especially on the right side down the line. Be on the lookout for this kid as she looks to light it up this coming year.
