Here’s a look at five experienced 1st Region sophomores set to compete in the 2020 high school volleyball season.
Olivia Carroll: A setter/defensive specialist, Carroll is a veteran player for the Community Christian (Paducah) volleyball program. Carroll helped to pace Community Christian during the 2019 high school volleyball season, registering 210 digs in the Warriors’ first 28 matches. Hard-working, Carroll is a vocal leader who runs offenses efficiently and has shown the ability to dig and block consistently.
Ally Dietsch: Versatile, Dietsch was among Carlisle County’s leaders during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Dietsch was on the floor during all of Carlisle County’s 31 matches, posting 101 kills and 39 blocks. The Comets’ leader in blocks, Dietsch is aggressive at the net and uses quick attacks on offense.
Kinley Doublin Kinley Doublin MB Ballard Memorial | 2023 State KY : A middle blocker from Ballard Memorial, Doublin delivered for her team throughout 2019. Doublin played in each of Ballard Memorial’s 39 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, recording 102 kills and 57 digs. A force at the net, Doublin covers well and has shown the ability to dig consistently.
Lanya Littlejohn: A libero/outside hitter, Littlejohn appeared in 20 of 24 matches for Fulton City during the 2019 high school volleyball season. A reliable contributor, Littlejohn logged 82 digs in 53 sets for Fulton City as a freshman. Littlejohn is productive when receiving the opponent’s serve, makes challenging digs and excels hitting from the left side.
Avery Thompson: A middle blocker, Thompson produced for Graves County in 2019. Thompson played in each of Graves County’s 38 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, posting 22 kills and 59 digs. Poised to take on a larger role for her team in the 2020 season, Thompson is a solid blocker both individually and in tandem and possesses the athletic ability to cover the net and move from side to side.
