What are you looking for most in a school?
-Good academics
-Competitive Volleyball Program where I am able to build a good relationship with the players and coaching staff
-Sense of community and support for Athletics and Academics
What sets you apart from other student athletes/recruits? I have always played for my High School team as a 6 rotation outside hitter, but I am being recruited as a Libero/DS for college. I train with my club mostly as a defensive player but love being versatile.
What about location? If a school is a good fit academically as well as the volleyball program, location isn’t a big factor, and that would be hard to pass up. My family are great supporters so it would be nice if they can travel easily to games. I would like to play at the highest level possible.
What do you want to study in college? I haven’t completely decided what I want to study but I am interested in Pre-Physical Therapy and Health Sciences.
Where are you at in the recruiting process? I have visited Dl and Dll programs and attended camps at both levels. There are some schools that want me to attend their camps this summer, so hopefully by July that will be possible.
Interesting facts? I have been lucky enough to have great coaches and teammates. Almost everyone on my club team wants to play in college, and I have played with several of them since 3rd grade!
First success in volleyball? My first big success in volleyball was winning President’s Day when I was 12, and also playing at Nationals every year since I was 11. It’s been so fun to travel all over with my teammates who are also some of my best friends. I am forever grateful for those friendships through volleyball, and I can’t wait for what the future holds in my volleyball career.

What are you looking for in a college? The biggest thing I am looking for in a college is a good nursing program. The environment also has to feel safe and comfortable.
What sets you apart from other recruits? I constantly work hard in the gym as well as in the classroom. I enjoy learning and becoming a better person as a whole.
How important is location for you? What if they don’t have your major? I am willing to go just about anywhere as long as the volleyball program is the right fit for me. I think education comes first for me, so if the school doesn’t have my major than I will decide against it.
Where are you in the recruiting process? I have been in contact with different coaches that have expressed interest. I’m waiting for the time that I can attend in-person visits.
What was your first volleyball success? My first success in volleyball was probably my first time trying out for club and I made the top team. It shaped my volleyball path into making me work hard in every practice as well as games.

What are you looking for in a college? I am looking for a college that has a good Biomedical Engineering program or just Engineering and Biomedical Science. I would like a school with a coach and team that is the right fit for me to continue playing volleyball.
What sets you apart from other recruits/student athletes? I am an explosive middle blocker who brings contagious energy to the court. My athleticism, teachable spirit, passion and knowledge of the game makes me a great asset on any team that I am a part of. I don’t believe I have yet reached my potential. I work hard on and off the court to achieve my goals.
How important is location and level of play? If a school doesn’t have your major but the volleyball program is a great fit, how will you decide? I would consider going to school anywhere that caters to me academically and has a competitive level of play. If the school doesn’t offer my major, I would consider it if it prepared me for my ultimate career goal. I wouldn’t mind starting at one school if transferring was a good option.
I have talked to a few schools but have not received any offers yet.
What other talents/activities do you participate in? Not only do I play volleyball, but I throw discus and shotput in track and also powerlift. I started for the 2019 Nebraska Class A State volleyball championship team, finishing with the 5th most blocks in Class A for the season. I also placed fifth in my weight class for State Powerlifting.
What was your first volleyball success? My first success in volleyball was when I made my first club team. I hadn’t made a team the first year I tried out, so before the next tryout I worked really hard to improve my skills. I have continued to face disappointment in my years of volleyball but I know that continuing to push myself and working hard even when I don’t see results has allowed me to excel.

Cortlyn led by example and always performed at a high-level no matter what position she was playing. ..Coach John La Rusch
What are you looking for most in a college? I am very excited to meet new people. I grew up trying new things so I would consider myself as one that is very good at making new friends. I am excited for all the new opportunities that may come my way too. I am looking for a college that fits me academically as well as a team environment. They will become my new family, so that will be very important as well.
What sets you apart from other recruits/prospects? What sets me apart from other recruits/prospects, for my size at 6’0”, I am a versatile player. My preference is an OH hitter, but have played middle, right side, as well as a 6 rotation player. Wherever the team needs me, I am willing to make that adjustment and work on it to become more effective to help the team be successful. I am also a 3 sport letter winner with multiple recognitions/honors.
How important is location and level of play? If a school doesn’t have your major but the volleyball program is a great fit, how will you decide?
My ideal location would be somewhere close to home but I open to any opportunities. I love spending time with my family and friends so getting that time spent with them is important. While talking to coaches, I make sure to talk about my future education. I don’t want to go to a school and not be able to get the education I want and need.
What do you want to study? As of right now, I’m very interested in pre-med. I have always wanted to work with kids every day. My mom is in the education field, so that has always been in the back of my mind.
Where are you in the process? Have you had offers? I have talked with multiple coaches and schools about what my future could ook like with them. I haven’t gotten offers yet, but there are schools very interested.
I am excited to continue my volleyball career at the next level. I am looking forward to being a part of a team that has as much passion for the game as I do and has the desire to not settle but push for more.
I first started playing club at age 11. Being in the gym with a ball in my hands and having the opportunity to be coached by many coaches has definitely shaped me into the player I am today. During my club seasons, we have had a lot of success during multiple tournaments which has carried over to my High School team. I spent a lot of time going to different camps and getting that extra time if I could. Once I got to the high school level, I have started all three years as a 6 rotation player. I have a lot of passion, athleticism, knowledge of the game, and court awareness when it comes to the sport and I think that’s what attracts coaches to me. I bring a lot of energy to the court and love to celebrate when my team succeeds.
