Let’s look at players from each of these schools to look forward to seeing play in the coming season.
Atlantic Trojans
Atlantic loses three seniors in Chloe Davis (MH/OH), McKenzie Waters (L), and Emma Templeton (RS). They have returning their top two hitters Alyssa Daley and Caroline Pellett, their setter, Haley Rasmussen, and a DS with the most digs last season, Mia Trotter. They will also have back their best blocker in Freshman Aubrey Guyer.
Clarinda Cardinals
Clarinda loses four seniors this year including their top hitter in Morgan Lihs (OH), Bradlie Wilmes (DS), Cloe Halstrom, and Hallee Fine (OH). Returning players to keep our eyes on for the coming season are Faith Espinosa (MH), who was fourth in hits and second in blocking, Jesselee Niehart (OH), who was the third-best hitter in the 2019 season, Teya Stickler (S), who was first in aces, had the best serve efficiency and was 5th in hits, and Riley Morganstern (L/DS), who was top in digs and third in aces for the 2019 season.
Creston Panthers
Creston loses three seniors in Makenna Hudson, Emma Hanson, and Abbi Hood. Returning for the 2020 season will be Rylie Driskell (S), who was second in digs, had the top number of aces, and was second in serve efficiency, Ryli Abildtrup (OH), who was second highest in kills for the 2019 season, and Kelsey Fields (MH), who was the top hitter and second in blocks last fall.
Denison-Schleswig Monarchs
Denison-Schleswig loses three seniors this year in Payton Goslar, Tia Petersen, and Allana Arkfeld. Returning players to watch are setter Kennedy Marten (S, 2021). The top hitter from 2019, Hannah Neeman (OH, 2021). Hannah is also the top returning blocker, second-best in aces, and also second-best in digs. Elle Magnuson(RS, 2021), third in hits and second in digs, also returns for the 2020 season. Sophie Sonnichsen (DS, 2022) is a returning sophomore that ranks in the top five in the categories of digs, the top server in aces, and the top returning player in serve efficiency. Kira Langenfeld (MH, 2022) is also returning to help out with blocking.
Glenwood Rams
Glenwood loses half their team this year to graduation of seniors Jaeda Wilson, Sasha Sinecio, Maggie Russman, Taryn Bertini, Joslyn Lewis, Kendall Bardsley, and Zoie Brown. Returning players Grace Boles (S, 2021), top number of sets, second in aces, and top in serving efficiency, Kelly Embray Kelly Embray DS/L Glenwood | 2021 State IA (S/L/DS, 2021), second in setting, second in aces, third in digs, and second in serve consistency, Elle Scarborough Elle Scarborough 5'9" | OH Glenwood | 2021 State IA (OH, 2021), top hitter in 2019, second in digs, and in the top 5 for serve efficiency, Kennedy Jones (MH, 2022), second in blocks, third in aces, and in the top five for serve efficiency, and Brynlee Arnold Brynlee Arnold 6'3" | RS Glenwood | 2022 State IA (RS, 2022), a 6’3″ MH with the top blocks for her sophomore season and third in kills.
Harlan Cyclones
Harlan loses five seniors this year with Ashley Sunderman, Chloe Hays, Dani Arkfeld, Elise Juhl, and Haley Manz tossing their caps. Returning players to keep an eye on are Ashley Hall (L, 2021) being the top in digs, top in aces, and best serve efficiency, Macie Leinen (MH, 2021) being second in kills, top five in digs, second in blocks, and over 30 aces, Lauren Andersen (MH, 2021) top in blocking and third in kills, and Zophi Hendricks (OH, 2022) top in kills, third in digs, and over 30 aces.
Kuemper Catholic Knights
Kuemper Catholic loses seven seniors this year in Anna Niehaus, Madison Leonard, Bethany Schleisman, Kara Peter Kara Peter 6'3" | MB Kuemper Catholic | 2020 State IA , Mallory Badding, Halle Simons, and Mariah Naberhaus. Top returning players to keep our eye on are Kenya Prescott (DS, 2022) the top returning player in digs, Kenzie Schon (OH, 2022) a top 5 in kills, top 5 in aces, and top 5 in serve efficiency, Ashlyn Badding Ashlyn Badding 5'7" | S Carroll-Kuemper | 2023 State IA (S, 2023) top returning setter, top 5 in aces, and top 5 in serve efficiency, and Sophie Badding Sophie Badding 5'11" | MB Carroll-Kuemper | 2023 State IA (MH, 2023) the top returning blocker.
Lewis Central Titans
The Titans lose half of their team this year to graduation with the likes of Megan Witte Megan Witte OH Council Bluffs Lewis Central | 2020 State IA , Rachel Cushing, Natalie Driver, Lauren Payne, Delaney Esterling Delaney Esterling S Lewis Central | 2020 State IA , and Presley Rodenburg graduating. The returning players to keep our eyes on this year will be Macy Mulder (S/DS, 2021) best returning player in digs, Madisyn Havermann (OH, 2021) best returning in kills, blocks, aces, and serve efficiency, and Karly Brown (S, 2022) is the best returning setter.
Red Oak Tigers
Red Oak loses four seniors this year to graduation in Allie West, Ellie Rengstorf, Sophie Walker, and Chloe Johnson Chloe Johnson OH Red Oak | 2020 State IA . Returning players to watch this fall are Abbey Jones Abbey Jones DS/L Red Oak | 2021 State IA (S/DS/L, 2021) top in assists, top in aces, and top 5 in serve efficiency, Alexis Johnson Alexis Johnson 5'6" | RS Red Oak | 2022 State IA (OH, 2021) top returning player in kills, digs, and blocks, and Tory Carrick (RS, 2022) top 5 in blocks and serve efficiency.
Shenandoah Fillies
Shenandoah loses four seniors in Claire Adkins, Natalie Gilbert, Nichole Gilbert, and Roxy Denton. Returning players to watch this fall are Jasmine Rogers (OH, 2021) top in kills and blocks, and Olivia Stogdill (RS, 2021) top 5 in digs, aces, and serve efficiency.
Saint Albert Saintes
Saint Albert loses five seniors this year in Bel Pershing, Jordyn Blaha, Olivia Barnes, Veronica Svajgl, and Shelby Hatcher. Returning players to watch this fall are Allie Petry Allie Petry 5'7" | DS/L Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA (OH, 2021) tops in kills, digs, blocks, and top 5 in aces, Maddie Estell (DS/L, 2021) top 5 in digs, Lauren Williams (RS/MH, 2022) top 5 in blocks and kills, and new setter, Maddy Horvath (S, 2022) great parity and top 5 in serve efficiency, and new transfer, Elizabeth Elkins Elizabeth Elkins 5'9" | OH Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA (OH, 2021) who at Council Bluffs Jefferson last fall was tops in kills, 3rd in digs, 3rd in blocks, and top in service aces.
