Round 2 of the 2020 Nebraska Prep Dig Team Series continues in the Hames Regional. Round 1 offered a 2019 summary, a 2020 outlook, and player information. Round 2 will dig a little deeper into upcoming players or schedules. Today’s matchup is between Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders and Johnson-Brock Eagles. Johnson-Brock competes in the mighty Pioneer Conference that has produced many state champions in volleyball and basketball. With 6 out of 10 teams with winning records and 3 state qualifiers in the Pioneer Conference in 2019, the competition level remains high with many returning key players.
The Class D1 state championship team Diller-Odell looks to lead the way again in 2020. The Griffins return Iowa State commit Addison Heidemann in the setter position and outside hitters Karli Heidemann Karli Heidemann 6'1" | OH Diller-Odell | 2023 State #124 Nation NE and Madelyn Meyerle Madelyn Meyerle 5'11" | OH Diller-Odell | 2022 State NE .
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steiner, Johnson-Brock, Falls City Sacred Heart, and Nebraska City Lourdes all return key players that will make it a battle for the runner up spot. Sterling may prove to be a dark horse with a lot of young talent returning.
