The Force Volleyball Academy holds its practices at Livonia Churchill High School and West Hills Middle School in West Bloomfield according to Forcevolleyballmichigan.com.
That’s why it’s so fitting that the program is able to claim so many up and coming squads. While FVA offers teams for beginners like the Little Spikers, which practice at both facilities, as well as 10/11’s LOCAL squads for boys and girls, it is right around age 14 when these skill sets start to play a more meaningful role in regards to on-court competition.
That’s when athletes truly start to come into their own, and for FVA 14U Select that includes…
LYDIA FRASER
This left-handed Setter is an eighth-grader at All Saints Catholic Middle School, will attend Father Gabriel Richard High School and wears number six during the club season.
“(She is a) six-rotation athletic Setter in 5:1 and 6:2, a strong attacker at the Left and Opposite positions (and has an) aggressive/consistent jump float serve,” said FVA U14 Select coach Amy Osborn.
ANSLEY LILLEY
A member of the class of 2025, Lilley plays Middle, attends Holy Name Catholic Middle School and will attend Marian High School. She is known as number 12 in club action and is right-handed, as well.
“(She) hits angles well as a Middle, sets a large middle block and makes changes quickly,” Osborn said.
MAGGIE HILLIARD
This right-hander is part of the class of 2024 at Cranbrook Kingswood Girls Middle School and will attend Cranbrook Upper High School. For FVA 14U Select she wears number 44 and plays Setter.
“(Hilliard has) soft hands with consistency as a Setter,” Osborn said. “(She is) tall (and) can hit and block as an Opposite. (She also has a) consistent/aggressive jump float serve.”
AVA SANGER
When it comes to volleyball Sander is a right-handed Defensive Specialist who wears number five. The rest of the time her claim to fame is being a seventh grader at Holy Name Catholic Middle School who will attend Marian High School.
“(Saanger is a) quick read going forward to dig, vocal (and has a) consistent jump float serve,” said Osborn.
ANNALISE PARKER
Right-handed and in the eighth grade at Bloomfield Hills Middle School, Parker will eventually go to Bloomfield Hills High School. On the floor she plays the Middle position and wears number 21.
“(Parker is a) tall and athletic Middle (who) moves well when blocking (and possesses a) consistent jump float serve,” Osborn said.
AUDREY THUMMEL
This member of the class of 2025 at Marist Academy Middle School will attend Notre Dame Prep High School. She also plays the Left position, is right handed and wears number eight with FVA 14U Select.
“(Thummel is a) six-rotation player (who is a) strong/athletic attacker (with a) consistent/aggressive jump float serve,” said Osborn.
ANNA SPEAKS
In her role playing the Opposite position this right-hander wears number seven for FVA 14U Select. She is a member of the class of 2024 at Bloomfield Hills Middle School and will attend Bloomfield Hills High School, as well.
“(Speaks has a) tall block, hits in seams well (and has a really) positive attitude,” Osborn said.
AMANDA VUSHAJ
A right-hander who plays the Left position, Vushaj might be known as number two on the club volleyball scene. But, the rest of the time this seventh-grader at Saint Lawrence Middle School is, among other things, preparing to attend Regina High School.
“(Vushaj is a) six-rotation player, a strong attacker (and is a) consistent/aggressive jump float server,” said Osborn.
