There is an amazing depth of talent around the Kansas City area. Today we will take a look at who we deem are the top five uncommitted middle hitters in the class.
Kellee Ann Greene – St. Teresa’s Academy – P4:13 Beach Club
In her first season of varsity action, Greene showed why she could potentially be the top uncommitted prospect in the area. She has displayed tremendous athleticism which should catch the eyes of some college programs. She brings many attributes and skillsets to the table. Offensively, she has shown the ability to hit from in front and behind the setter. Greene runs a very effective slide but can also swing off of two from the right side. She does a good job of seeing the floor and finding dead space. Defensively she is a solid blocker. Her length and quickness allow her to move laterally in any direction to get blocks and touches. Unfortunately, she missed time during the shortened club season which may have hampered her recruitment, however, she will be a solid addition to a program. Here are some highlights.
Hannah Graves – Park Hill High School – Mizuno Club North 17-1
Graves recruitment picked up steam last fall and continues to be on the rise after a strong start to the club season. She took a year off from the club season in 2019, but after a strong high school season decided to give it another run. One of Graves greatest strengths is her blocking. She moves great side to side, which allows her to never be out of a play. She jumps well and is a tremendous athlete. She was among the state leaders in blocks a season ago. Her offensive play has developed and improved greatly over the last year. She is at her best swinging in front of the setter but can run the slide with good efficiency. One thing that impresses us about her game is her court awareness. She does a great job of transitioning off the net to make herself available for a set. As a middle, she does a good job of getting digs from the back row. Check out some highlights of Graves in action.
Paige Huhman Paige Huhman MB Lee's Summit North | 2021 State MO – Lee’s Summit North High School – Mavs 816 – 17-1
The one word that immediately comes to mind when you watch Huhman play is: smart. The more you see her in action, the more impressed you become in her game. She does most of her damage in front of the setter and does a great job of hitting 3 balls. She can find the floor with her power but also has a knack of taking speed off to find the open spaces. Of the middles we’ve watched, she separates herself by her shot selection and knows when to turn that wrist at the right time. Huhman could potentially add value to programs on the next level by swinging from the right side as well. She has a good wingspan and does a good job of putting herself in position to get blocks in one on one situations. She is another middle who has shown the ability to pass the ball from the back row, which adds value to her stock. Paige Huhman Paige Huhman MB Lee's Summit North | 2021 State MO highlights.
Kendall Boone – Lee’s Summit High School – Invasion Volleyball 17-1
She is listed at 5’10″, but Boone has shown she plays bigger than her height. She has played a solid middle in her volleyball career. She could probably be a recruit on the outside as well, having over 300 digs a season ago. She has great court vision and shot placement. The junior can score offensively from all front row positions. She will continue to develop in the block department as seen during the club season. Another strong high school season will have college coaches ringing her phone this fall.
Jada Davis – Staley High School – Highlands Performance 17-1
Athleticism will open the eyes of college coaches and Davis brings that to the table. As a tremendous jumper, she has the potential colleges look to develop. It appears her favorite ball to hit is the 3 ball. She carries a high kill percentage when set in system. She could also be an asset for programs swinging from behind the setter from the right side. There are flashes of her running the slide, but she is a better jumper off of two feet. Her strongest strength is her blocking ability. She reads setters very well and uses that to put herself in a position to get touches and blocks. Her reach allows her to get outside to help pin hitters defensively. She is a fierce competitor and has experienced success on the club scene, winning two national qualifiers over the last two years. Here are a few highlights of Davis in action.
