The 16-2 National team coached by Amanda Swann consists of nine sophomores, four of who saw action at the varsity level during the 2019 high school season. Unified 16-2 won the silver division in 16 Club at JVA Rock ‘N Rumble in Cleveland and also took 2nd in gold in 16 Club at the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic in Washington, D.C.
Ashley Petker (Clarkston) runs the offense for this quick medium-sized team. She has an aggressive serve and reads the defense so well it often results in kills for herself. Petker earned the most valuable setter award in the club division at the Capitol Hill Classic in Washington.
In the center, Abby Nellis comes to Unified from Division 2 powerhouse Notre Dame Prep. Abby runs an effective and consistent middle. She connects great with Petker and brings energy to the court. She also consistently racks up points from behind the service line.
Middle Lake Orion Dragon Hannah Lynch, while calm and reserved, is a powerful middle blocker. She covers the net well from side to side, often wreaking havoc on opposing teams with her long reach.
Sophia Sudzina (OH) brings a wealth of athleticism and strength to the court. During the high school season, Sophia was an impact player for Notre Dame Prep on their run to the final four. Max Preps two-year varsity stats show Sudzina played in 244 sets resulting in 420 kills, 51 blocks, and 166 digs.
Ella Post, (OH) Clarkston. Post is a six rotation player who is consistent in all aspects of her game. She brings excitement to the outside with her size. Ella, who stands at 5’6”, surprises defenses with her ability to hit around the block.
Kate Horvath, (OH/RS) West Bloomfield. Kate brings an enormous amount of power at the pins. With an approach jump touch of 9’6”, she is capable of avoiding the block. Horvath is also a steady blocker and dependable behind the service line. Her stats as a Laker for the 2019 varsity season include 136 kills and 20 aces in 101 sets played.
Raegan Bell, (L). A two-year varsity player for Oxford, Bell has played against some of the biggest outside hitters in Oakland County in her short high school career. She covers the line well, has an aggressive serve, and is a hard worker both on and off the court.
Ella Pease, (DS) Rochester Adams. Pease rounds out the back row on defense for this team. She is a great team player who brings plenty of energy to the court and works hard on serve receive. Ella’s serve is robust and consistent and keeps other teams out of system.
Macy Martin, (RS/M) Holly. Martin brings a range to the right side with her long reach. She reads the opposing team well and can effectively transition to defense. As a middle, her long reach is effective in getting out to the pins to set the double block. Macy put up big numbers at the Capitol Hill Classic this past February, playing in the middle.
