Continue ReadingAt Prep Dig, a turn around in rankings from early January to April is a rather quick time to update, but through the abbreviated club season and a pause in the action, this has given us the chance to make an update, correct some positions, and make some changes in the rankings. Here are a few things to know when it comes to rankings especially at the 15s level.
*We honestly could change these week by week. Athletes have their highs and lows as do teams. There are also athletes who are in the midst of changing positions, coming off injuries, and finding their groove.
*A ranking does not define you as a person, player, or solidify your fate to a college coach at the next level.
*We see the biggest change in rankings from the addition of players and athletes who rise for the 15s to 16s level. Even watching a 15s team in January and again in June is like watching two different teams. The growth and improvement is so fun to watch as athletes build momentum into their Sophomore year of high school.

[player_tooltip player_id="61781" first="Zoe" last="Behrendt"] settingHere are athletes on the rise and notable changes in the Class of 2023 rankings.
Zoe Behrendt Zoe Behrendt 5'11" | S Whitefish Bay | 2023 State #113 Nation WI – Whitefish Bay – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Behrendt is LEGIT. This past fall she was a top outside hitter for her high school and one of the top freshman outsides in the state, switch to club and she is now the top setter in the Class of 2023. Great overall athleticism, a feel for the game, great feet and hands, and is the maestro to what is an extremely balanced attack for Sting 15 Gold.
Lily Wagner Lily Wagner 5'11" | OH Germantown | 2023 State #118 Nation WI – Germantown – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Wagners ability to be so solid in every rotation is what moves her up. She is so loose with her arm that creates a violent attack to score plenty of points on the pin while she can also serve receive and pass. Just a steady, dependable force in all rotations is so valuable at this level.
Rowan Schreiber Rowan Schreiber 6'5" | MB Madison Memorial | 2023 State WI – Madison Memorial – Balance 16s
Schreiber #22I am so excited for Schreiber with her athleticism, length, and overall ability. Her Balance 16s team is so fun to watch with how they connect, their energy and overall athleticism. Schreiber is a lockdown blocker on the right side and brings a physical presence to the net. She is one with a major upside and fun potential to keep tabs on.
Morgan Kealy Morgan Kealy 5'11" | S River Falls | 2023 State WI – River Falls – Kokoro 15-1
Yes, the Kealy name is familiar in the River Falls Volleyball Program with her older sister Maddi being part of the Class of 2020 and will head to Minnesota-Duluth. Morgan had to step in to set the Varsity the first month of the season with Maddi out with a stress fracture. Morgan will be the next one to step in and set for River Falls who will still have a very talented roster looking to make their 5th straight state tournament appearance.
Katherine Lockwood Katherine Lockwood 5'10" | OH Menomonee Falls | 2023 State WI – Menomonee Falls – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black
Lockwood really stood out to me at the Badger Region Qualifier where 15 Black finished second to 15 Gold, defeating FC Elite to get to the championship. Lockwood plays with a grit and aggressiveness that is contagious. I’m excited to see a resurgence for Falls this upcoming Fall with some strong athletes coming back for 2020.
Autumn Flynn Autumn Flynn 5'11" | MB Luxemburg-Casco | 2023 State WI – Luxemburg-Casco – FC Elite 15 Navy
Flynn is one of those players who goes about her business and I’m not sure she knows how good she is and the potential she has. She’s athletic, she’s dynamic, and with more training and playing against high level athletes she is going to be a sneaky force to be reckoned with for Luxemburg-Casco in 2020.
Molly Berezowitz Molly Berezowitz DS/L Burlington | 2023 State WI – Burlington – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black
I’m sure Molly Berezowitz Molly Berezowitz DS/L Burlington | 2023 State WI has had an interesting quarantine among her family with her older sister, Maddie home from playing volleyball at the University of Kentucky. Plenty of pepper and hopefully no injuries or bruised egos. Berezowitz displays a grit on the floor where she will find a way to get it done, get a clean pass to the net, and pick up an loose second contact to keep the play alive. Burlington will be graduating quite a trio of Seniors in 2021 in Sam Naber, Mackenzie Leach Mackenzie Leach 5'7" | DS/L Burlington | 2021 State WI , and Amanda Viel Amanda Viel 5'7" | DS/L Burlington | 2021 State WI , but no fear with a tradition like Burlington they will be sure to reload.
Brathol (4), Petersen (10), Banitt (libero).Brianna Brathol Brianna Brathol 5'11" | OH River Falls | 2023 State WI – River Falls – Kokoro 15-1
Brathol is a high flying pin who could also be a high level libero/Ds with her all-around skill and versatility. I was able to Brathol and her Kokoro 15-1 teammates at the JVA Showcase in the Dells in an extremely competitive match with VC United 151. She has a spark and energy to her game and will be a point scorer from the pin with her ability to make shots and has great chemistry with the rest of her team.
Savannah Spees Savannah Spees 5'7" | S Wausau East | 2023 State WI – Wausau East – Wisconsin Ice 15 Purple
Spees is an absolute all around six rotation athlete where she can do a little bit of everything from scoring points in the middle to even setting when her team needs her. She demonstrates great ball control and has a strong volleyball IQ.
Taylor Tetzlaff Taylor Tetzlaff 6'0" | OH Kaukauna | 2023 State WI – Kaukauna – FC Elite 15 White
Buy stock in Tetzlaff now because she is on her way up in the Class of 2023. She is long, athletic, and is a prototypical outside hitter with a high contact point and as she continues to get stronger she is going to be a major point scorer. I saw her play during the high school season and again at Badger Region Power League with evidence of being much improved. Her best volleyball is ahead of her and will definitely be one to watch in the Fox Valley.
Meghan Schultz Meghan Schultz 6'3" | MB New Berlin West | 2023 State WI – New Berlin West – MVP 15 Blue
Funny story here (not really), at Badger Region Power League I switched the number 1 and 7 on my notes and wrote about the wrong player. Big difference between someone who is 5’8 and Schultz, who is 6’3 and an absolute force out of the middle (Sorry Megan). Schultz has a heavy swing which when she connects in system, it is so hard to get a clean pass back to the setter. Will be fun to see her progress throughout her career.
