After such an extraordinary display of luck and good timing, I decided to consult the crystal ball once more. These are five more 2021 prospects worth watching as recruiting season rolls on.
Logan Holly Logan Holly 5'8" | MB Sidney | 2021 State NE – 5’9 OH – Sidney – NORCO 17 Black
Holly hits with the kind of heat that is almost unparalleled in the Cornhusker State. Her heavy swings have become infamous in the Nebraska panhandle, as she regularly bounces balls at the ten-foot line inside Sidney’s gym. Though Holly takes her talents to Colorado during club season, her contribution to Nebraska’s prep scene cannot go unnoticed. Her Red Raiders team got the spotlight in my Class B preview, and Holly will get the chance to shine as her team vies for another trip to Lincoln in 2020.
Lucy Bartee Lucy Bartee 6'0" | S Kearney | 2021 State NE – 6’0 S – Kearney – Nebraska Juniors 17 Red
A tall setter with great hands: what more could you want? Bartee brings rare length and physicality to the setting position, and that’s only part of what makes her a great player. She puts her hitters in great spots with her ability to locate and distribute effectively. With her six-foot frame, Bartee is no liability when blocking at the net, and she can even take a swing when needed. It’s this kind of skill set that earned Bartee some recognition as an Uncommitted Tall Talent of 2021. This is a setter whose best days are still to come, and she has all the necessary tools to make an impact at the next level.
Breckyn Moore Breckyn Moore 5'7" | DS/L Papillion-LaVista South | 2021 State NE – 5’7 RS – Papillion-LaVista South – Nebraska Juniors 17 Black
There’s no bigger stage for high school teams than the state championship, and few players at last year’s tournament stood out like Moore. She was the definition of clutch during Papio South’s run to the 2019 Class A title, as Moore consistently produced huge swings on the right pin for the Titans. Her energy, too, was invaluable; she knows how to fire up her teammates in big moments. Moore’s great technique and heavy arm more than compensate for any size concerns, and this talented all-around player can be expected to make a big impact as her prep career concludes.
Erica Stratman Erica Stratman 6'1" | MB Cross County | 2021 State NE – 6’1 MB – Cross County – South Central 17 Black
Another player to make my uncommitted tall talents list, Stratman is a middle who combines small-town work ethic with numerous physical gifts. Just set the ball high in the middle of the net, and Stratman will surely terminate. It’s a strategy that has worked for Cross County for several years now, and their talented middle blocker is only just getting started. Stratman has the motivation and desire to become a dominating force at the middle position. She’s well on her way to achieving this goal and will only get better as time goes on.
Brooke Peltz – 5’8 OH/DS – Lincoln East – Nebraska Juniors 17 Black
Not only is Peltz an effective attacker for Lincoln East, but her proficient ball control skills make her a top-tier defensive specialist prospect. She has such a refined touch in the backcourt and can place tough balls right on the setter’s head. Peltz’s quickness and hustle on defense are rare in a player who is also known for taking aggressive swings at the net. Whatever position Peltz plays in the future, her team can be confident that they’re getting a talented, well-rounded volleyball player.
