However, it shouldn’t be forgotten that many schools have yet to complete their 2021 recruiting class. It’s also the case that many great Class of 2021 athletes remain uncommitted.
Thus, we look to start filling that void today. Here are some uncommitted 2021 prospects to keep on your radar!
Pick
Lauren Pick – 6’0 OH – Wayne
Of all the great talents spread throughout small-town Nebraska, Pick is one of the best. Her Wayne team was featured in my Class C1 tournament preview, and Pick is the unquestioned leader of the Blue Devils’ offense. She scores from anywhere along the net, alternating between hitting off of one and two feet. Realistically, she could play on the pin or in the middle. She’s just that good. Following an extraordinary junior campaign in which she terminated 550 times, Pick is looking to close out her decorated career with a potentially record-breaking senior season, as well as a state title.
Jakubowski
Josie Jakubowski – 5’9 OH – St. Paul
Another small-town pin hitter who turned heads at last year’s state tournament in Lincoln, Jakubowski is a multi-sport athlete who regularly succeeds in clutch situations for St. Paul. She’s a fearless attacker whose dependability led St. Paul to the Class C1 championship match following an undefeated regular season. Jakubowski hits a heavy ball that frequently shreds opposing blocks, and her teammates feed off the effort and toughness that she routinely displays. This is an outside hitter who is accustomed to challenging bigger schools and elevating her game when the spotlight is brightest. In case you haven’t seen Jakubowski yet, look for her to once again make noise in Lincoln this fall.
Sofia Bressani Sofia Bressani 5'7" | DS/L Omaha Duchesne | 2021 State NE – 5’7 L – Omaha Duchesne – Nebraska Elite 17-1
Great liberos can play a pivotal role in boosting the efficiency of their team’s offense, and that’s exactly the kind of player that Bressani is. Duchesne allows her to pass an enormous chunk of the court, which Bressani promptly handles with ease. The Cardinals made a surprise appearance in last year’s Class B title match in large part because this talented libero had such tremendous command of the backcourt. Bressani knows how to control her platform and momentum to deliver perfect passes with remarkable consistency. Her defensive hustle is a joy to watch. As one of the few upperclassmen on next year’s Duchesne squad, Bressani will look to put her leadership skills on full display during her final high school season.
Wulf
Brittany Wulf – 6’1 OH – Lincoln Southeast – Nebraska Juniors 17 Black
Wulf is one of the hardest-hitting outside hitters in the 2021 class. Not only does she know how to hit with power, but she has the accuracy and control that coaches covet. Wulf reads the net well, allowing her to hit around even well-formed blocks. As the featured attacker for the Knights last year, Wulf showed the ability to carry her team through hotly contested matches. She is a fierce competitor who is incredibly dedicated to improving her game. It’s a trait that will undoubtedly serve her well moving forward.
Logan Jeffus Logan Jeffus 6'0" | OH Papillion-LaVista | 2021 State NE – 6’0 MB – Papillion-LaVista – Premier 17 Gold | Title Photo
This talented middle blocker is no stranger to the big stage, as her Premier squad has been an elite-tier club team for several years now. Jeffus is a middle blocker who fits into her role incredibly well. She makes quick, accurate reads that leave her in a great position to stuff opposing attacks. Jeffus always works hard to make herself available in transition, and she’s tough to stop when she attacks at the top of her jump. She plays for a storied Papillion-LaVista program that appears to be in prime position to make the postseason again in 2020. A player who made my Uncommitted Tall Talents of 2021 list, Jeffus will look to raise her stock as she concludes her high school career.
