Mackenzie Austin Mackenzie Austin DS/L Bowling Green | 2023 KY – Mentioned earlier as one of the top defensive players in the region, Mackenzie Austin Mackenzie Austin DS/L Bowling Green | 2023 KY deserves a spot on the underclassman to watch list as well. Austin has started for Bowling Green High School since she was just an 8th grader where she earned the libero spot and continued to be their top DS in 2019. This girl has tons of potential with her quickness, agility, and smart mind. If you watch, her platform is so natural, and she’s a real stud in the backrow. Be on the lookout for this upcoming sophomore!
Kaia Barnett- Also mentioned earlier as one of the top setters in the region, Kaia Barnett will only be a sophomore for the Lady Purples at Bowling Green High School. She started in 2019 as their lead setter, and Barnett became one of their key players. With her sharp mind and love of volleyball, she helps the team at the quarterback spot. BGHS hired a new coach, Tim Sharp, so it will be interesting to see how he takes all of these young players and forms them into a killer squad. Barnett will definitely be an underclassmen player to watch!
Rachel Dezarn- In 2019, Rachel Dezarn led the Logan County Cougars with a .281 hitting average and the most kills on their team with 271 as just a freshman!! This girl has a fiery personality and a great attitude for the Cougars, and she was a true leader for her team as a middle hitter. With only being a freshman and making that big of an impact is truly an awesome sight to see. Dezarn will enter her sophomore year in 2020, and she will do huge things for the squad!
Jada Kirk- An interesting case, Jada Kirk played for the Warren East Raiders JV and freshmen team where she started as their setter. Kirk also played for their junior high team because she was an eighth grader. With tons of potential, Jada Kirk earned herself a spot on the varsity team where she was a backup setter for senior, Kendall Bloyd. Since their star setter graduated, it is probable that Jada Kirk will take over the key quarterback spot as just a freshman. Watch out for this skilled setter as she marks her name in the stat books for her first year!
