Emily Weber Emily Weber 6'0" | S Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State #139 Nation IN , 5-11, Hamilton Southeastern, Academy, Prep Dig #4
The first three on this list are clearly the class of the setters in Indiana for ’22, and it’s really close. I personally like Emily the best, simply because of her ability to do everything a setter needs to do to run her offense. She also takes up a bunch of space on the block, and can defend with some of the best. Yes, it helps that she has Raven Colvin Raven Colvin 6'0" | MB Heritage Christian | 2021 State IN (’21, Purdue) and Grace Boggess Grace Boggess 6'3" | MB Center Grove | 2021 State IN (’21, Butler) to set, but there is so much more to her game that you just don’t have to worry about when she’s in charge. She also led her high school team to the championship match in the toughest class in the state last fall, and will have a great chance to do it again this coming fall.
Grace Reynolds Grace Reynolds 5'9" | S Martinsville | 2022 State #167 Nation IN , 5-8, Martinsville, Circle City, Prep Dig #5
After watching Grace play, I am led to believe that she’d be a great outdoor player as well. Her location is exceptional, she’s super steady in character and has soft hands that remind me of the best of outdoor players. It’s unfortunate that she plays at Martinsville, not quite known for the best volleyball, but she makes them, and everyone else she plays with, better.
Ella Bostic Ella Bostic 6'0" | S Carmel | 2022 State #45 Nation IN , 6-0, Carmel, Munciana, Prep Dig #6
The tallest of these three, Ella came from relative obscurity two years ago to now running, arguably, the top club program in her age group in the Hoosier State. She’s super smooth, her length suits her well on offense and defense, and can get to any ball out of system to make it not only hittable, but terminable. I would not be surprised if, by the time club season arrives in January of ’21, she’s the best of these three. Her improvement has been meteoric, and is only getting better.
Reagan Nuss Reagan Nuss 5'6" | S Brownstown Central | 2022 State IN , 5-6, Brownstown Central, Cougar, Prep Dig #23
The only state champ on this list, Reagan has recently made it on this list due to the small club she plays for. Not traveling a lot makes for not a lot of exposure, but in this day and age of video availability, you can see immediately how good she is. She’s been running her varsity program since her freshman year, and it’s only a matter of time before she breaks all of the records at her school. She can get most balls that the others on this list can’t, simply because she’s faster than the rest. If you happen to pass tight, she can get up and one-hand hittable balls.
Kelsey Smith Kelsey Smith 6'0" | S Hamilton Heights | 2022 State IN , 6-0, Hamilton Heights, Grand Park, Prep Dig #29
Yet another kid on this list playing for a smaller-than-average regional club. Her uniqueness and her abilities unfortunately limit her setting; she’s a right side in the front row, jump-touching almost ten feet, and a setter in the back. She’s long, lean, and fast. I can’t imagine too many colleges know she exists, let alone can do anything the kids on this list can do. Add to it that she’s a thumper in the front…..a little creativity by college coaches could have her running a modified 6-2, just like in club. Keep an eye on this one, you know I will.
