This is a list selected by trusted coaches, officials, and volleyball minds who have a good understanding of the local volleyball landscape. You will see players who have accomplished high school careers to date. You will see some who are young but have the potential to be big-time players. Today we introduce 11-15 on our list.
15. Calissa Minatee Calissa Minatee 6'0" | MB North Kansas City | 2023 State #25 Nation MO – MH – 2023 – North Kansas City High School
“The sky is the limit for Calissa,” shared one coach. That may be an understatement considering what she did in her first high school season. She had 224 kills and a hitting percentage of .508. That was on almost 400 attempts, which is pretty good in case you were wondering. A second coach added, “She is lightning quick and gets off the ground so fast. She has the potential to be an all-state player this year.” Highlights
14. Lily Letchworth Lily Letchworth 5'10" | S Blue Springs | 2021 State MO – S – 2021 – Blue Springs High School
Letchworth comes in as one of the more well-rounded setters in the city. She has shown her value in her ability to get assists (732), but also solid in digging and getting kills. “You have to stay on your toes when she’s in the front row because she will dump it over on two before you know it,” exclaimed one coach. She is a very smart engineer of the offense and reads the defenders on an above-average level. Highlights
13. Keegan Good Keegan Good 5'3" | Libero Park Hill South | 2022 MO – L – 2022 – Park Hill South High School
Good’s first season of varsity action was a year most liberos dream of enjoying. When it was her time to see the court she made her presence known immediately. She had 464 digs last fall for Park Hill South. “She’s really good,” one coach started by saying. “We don’t face many defenders of her caliber that make the tough plays look routine.”
12. Maggie McInerney Maggie McInerney 6'0" | OH St. Teresa's Academy | 2021 MO – OH – 2021 – St. Teresa’s Academy – Committed: University of Chicago
The common theme so far of our older hitters in the top 25 is the desire to see their growth as 6 rotation players. That was an added thought by one local coach who said, “She would maybe push top 5 as a full-time 6 rotation contributor,” when speaking of the St. Teresa’s outside hitter. Last fall was McInerney’s first year of varsity play. We expect her to have another solid year offensively after earning 271 kills. Highlights
11. Isabel Zimmerman Isabel Zimmerman 6'2" | RS Liberty North | 2022 State #30 Nation MO – MH/RS – 2022 – Liberty North High School
“She has the size and game to be a top 5 player in the city. As she becomes the go-to scorer, I think the whole city will see how good she is,” said one volleyball insider. Her sophomore season saw 228 kills at a .300 hitting percentage. Zimmerman is solid defensively as well, adding 78 total blocks. A coach shared, “Like so many young players, as they get stronger their game evolves and I can’t wait to watch her over the next two seasons.” Highlights
