Some of these players have very accomplished high school careers to date. There are others you may see who are young but identified as having the potential to be big-time players. Let’s dive into the top 10.
10. Bryn McGehe Bryn McGehe 5'9" | Setter/RS Platte County High School | 2021 MO – Util – 2021 – Platte County High School – Committed: University of Kansas
McGehe checks off many boxes on the court. She swings from both pins. She digs and passes. She sets. She is more than likely playing defense at the next level, but her ability to contribute in all facets places her in the top 10. “She does so much for her team and if I was starting a team, she would be a high pick,” shared one rival coach. Her stat line from 2019: 287 assists, 233 digs, 216 kills. We look forward to seeing her role in 2020. Highlights
9. Sydney Draper Sydney Draper 5'11" | S Pembroke Hill | 2023 State #143 Nation MO – Util – 2023 – Pembroke Hill School
Draper is the youngest player in the top 10 after a stellar freshman campaign. Like McGehe, she is a “can do it all” player on her high school team. Her strength is her setting, as she is a top recruit nationally as a setter. She dished out 312 assists last fall. She also added 217 digs and 183 kills. “I have seen her in high school and club season and she is legit,” one official shared with us. Another coach added their opinion, “There are not many players in the city who can do what she does on the court…she’s a top 10 talent and will only get better.” Highlights
8. Aubrey LaPour Aubrey LaPour 5'11" | OH Blue Springs South | 2021 State MO – OH – 2021 – Blue Springs South High School – Committed: Bryant University
“There is probably not a player in the city who hits a harder ball,” a coach started by saying. LaPour is one of the top scorers and offensive talents in the city. We should see her more consistently in passing and digging opportunities for the Jaguars in 2020. She missed a good chunk of the season due to injury but did enough to earn her first all-state honor in 2019. A division coach shared, “If she has a full season and shows the ability to play the back row she is a top 5 player in the city.”
7. Addison Beagle Addison Beagle 5'9" | S Liberty North | 2022 State MO – S – 2022 – Liberty North High School
Beagle comes in as the highest-ranked setter in the preseason list. A season ago she averaged 10 assists a set for 743 on the season. “She has good size, good hands, and great court awareness. If I could choose a setter from any school to start my team with, it’s Beagle,” stated a retired local coach. Beagle has been running the Eagles offense since her freshman season. She sits at just under 1400 assists in her career.
6. Tera Reberry Tera Reberry 6'2" | MB Smith-Cotton | 2021 State MO – MH – 2021 – Smith-Cotton High School/Pleasant Hill High School – Committed: Rockhurst University
Reberry comes in as our top player who resides just outside of the KC Metro. She played her first two seasons at Pleasant Hill and still plays club locally so she was included on our list. She was good in her first year at Smith-Cotton. She finished the season with 314 kills. Reberry was strong defensively with 127 total blocks. A local official shared, “She has a very physical presence at the net. She is very strong in front of the setter on attacks but can run a good slide also. She is one of the strongest defenders at the net and has good reaction speed which helps get touches and blocks.” Highlights
