Let’s get rid of graduation years, school size, and divisions for the top 25 players in the KC Metro (Missouri only). We sent a list of 50 players to fifteen coaches and local volleyball influencers to help build this list. You will see players who have very accomplished high school careers to date. You will see some who are young but have the potential to be big-time players. Each day we will countdown and we begin with 25-21 and 6 who just missed the cut.

25. Ashlyn Bellamy – OH – 2023 – Lee’s Summit High School
Bellamy had a really good freshman campaign for Lee’s Summit in 2019. She finished the year with 200 kills and hit at a .281 hitting percentage. She also showcased her ability defensively with 344 digs. One coach shared, “It’s rare a freshman can come in and have the success Ashlyn did on the pins. After losing Harper (Snyder), Ashlyn should have a crazy season.” Highlights
24. Maya Watkins – OH – 2023 – East Buchanan High School
“As I watched her video my first thought was her game would be just as strong at a bigger school,” said a coach from a Class 4 school. Many of the smaller schools know of Watkins because of the damage she inflicted during her first season. She put up impressive numbers last fall. Watkins had 276 kills to go with 266 digs.
23. Arley Anderson – S – 2021 – Park Hill South High School
A three-year starter, Anderson enters the list at 23. She has been steady in her career for the Panthers. South has experienced tremendous success over the last few years and the one constant has been the setter position. “I think she gets overlooked sometimes because of her size but name me another setter who can say they are 69-22 in their first three years,” said a local well-versed volleyball mind. Anderson has 1892 assist in her career and looks to reach 2000 this fall. Highlights
22. Brooklyn Young – MH – 2023 – Liberty High School
“She is going to be a very, very good player very soon,” a coach shared in their analysis. Young had big shoes to fill last fall after the sudden transfer of their star middle. She did more than hold her own in her first season. “As she gets stronger, her game will elevate to new heights,” added a division coach. In 2019, Young had 160 kills and 108 total blocks for the Blue Jays.
21. Ashley Mullen – S – 2023 – Liberty High School
Mullen joins her classmate and teammate in the top 25. After splitting time running the offense a season ago, we expect to see more of her ability in 2020. “She could honestly be one of the best setters out of our area in a long time,” shared one long-time high school coach. They continued, “She is still young and growing but if she gets stronger and grows another couple of inches she will cause major headaches for teams.” During her first year, Mullen averaged just over 4 assists a set.
