Reagan Nuss Reagan Nuss 5'6" | S Brownstown Central | 2022 State IN , 5-6, S, Brownstown Central, Cougar VBC, Prep Dig #23
You cannot argue with a first team all state honoree in 3A in Indiana. You also can’t argue with a state champion. Now add “running the offense since her freshman year in a 5-1” and you get the idea that this is a real-deal, no-nonsense player. Fully capable of running the show, Reagan has played in relative obscurity for the last two years simply because she doesn’t play for one of the big name clubs in Indiana. All of her contacts are hittable, she plays defense well, and she’s a winner. What more do you want?
Paige Busick Paige Busick 5'4" | DS/L Bellmont | 2022 State IN , 5-4, DS, Bellmont, Team Pineapple , Prep Dig #24
Emma Mills Emma Mills 5'5" | DS/L Bellmont | 2022 State IN , 5-5, DS, Bellmont, Team Pineapple , Prep Dig #26
I grouped these two together because they’re so interchangeable. Both can play multiple positions on defense, both have great body control for serve receive, and both can don the libero jersey and take over at any time. It doesn’t hurt that they play for a perennially successful program in 3A at Bellmont, and they’re looking to make another run in the fall to the title match.
Kamzi Gross Kamzi Gross 5'6" | DS/L Trinity Lutheran | 2022 State IN , 5-6, DS, Trinity Lutheran, Cougar VBC, Prep Dig #28
Here’s another unsung hero from a title match from last fall. Kamzi is the one kid on this list you just can’t serve. Ever. Her team’s consistent showing on Indiana’s 1A top 10 is not a fluke, and her club is centered directly out of her high school in Seymour. I love her range, her control on serve receive, and her ability to take over as a second coach on the floor. If she were playing on a big-named club, she’d probably be more noticed by now.
Kaybree Oxley Kaybree Oxley 5'10" | MB Tecumseh | 2022 State IN , 5-10, MB, Tecumseh, Prep Dig #38
A three sport stud at this 2A powerhouse, Kaybree is one of those gym rats you just have to have. Everything comes naturally to her, and her high-rise is literally due to her, ahem, high rise. This girl can jump, and is just as adept around bigger kids in basketball. As mentioned before, you cannot discount her all-state honors; she received 2nd team all-state in 2A last fall. You’ll notice there’s no club team listed—I don’t think she plays club. Just a natural athlete that can get up. I look forward to making a trip to Lynnville next fall to see what Miss Oxley can do.
