Here is a list of 2022 prospects from the NW Suburban conference (in alphabetical order) that should be on your radar:

Elk River | 2022

MN
– 6’0 | S | Elk River
Cotton is one of the premier setters in this class and has seen her stock rise significantly following her contributions for Elk River and their run in 2019 to the state tournament. She is athletic, has good size, and increasingly has shown great leadership and command of her offense. With DI talent, Cotton has a high ceiling should continue to command a lot of attention.
Cara Cyr

Maple Grove | 2022
State
MN
– 6’0 | MB | Maple Grove
The gains Cyr has made through the last high school season and with her club this year should be a significant factor for Maple Grove in 2020. She has improved the impact of her game both offensively and defensively as she has made gains in her movement patterns and mobility to match the power she can generate with her arm. She also has good patience and balance to put pressure on attackers when blocking.
Kylie Ferguson – 5’11 | MB | Robbinsdale-Armstrong
With increased training and competition with MN Select this club season, Ferguson has improved her game. Her court awareness, spacing, and timing offensively make her a viable option as she has shown effectiveness with her arm to terminate the ball. It is a big benefit to her game as well knowing she has one of the best senior setters running the offense again this next fall season for Armstrong.
Maya Mortenson

MN
– 5’8 | S | Spring Lake Park
Playing with M1’s top 16’s team has been a big part of Mortenson’s continued development as she has had some good support around her in the team’s ball control and collection of athletic attackers. She has good footwork around the floor to pursue the second touch and can distribute a range of offensive options with good extension, range, and tempo from pin to pin.
Brynn Reines

Rogers | 2022

MN
– 6’1 | OH | Rogers
A great competitor, Reines was a all-conference selection in 2019 and will be back even better and ready to make an even bigger impact. Throughout her club play this season she has proven effective from either pin. Her movement in her approach patterns is fluid and she gets her feet to the ball well so she can swing on balance and with good heat and range in the air. Look for the Rogers’ pin tandem to put up a lot of points this fall.
Ellie Schmidt

Champlin Park | 2022
State
MN
– 5’10 | OH/RS | Champlin Park
For her Synergy team Schmidt could be found swinging from a variety of locations that includes both pins and in the middle. The increased experience will help her effectiveness this fall given this versatility and some ability to control her arm and the shots she makes. When on time and balance she can get ahold of the ball well to generate some good pace.
Kylie Stremmel

Champlin Park | 2022
State
MN
– 5’8 | DS/L | Champlin Park
One of the biggest factors in Stremmel’s game is her experience as she saw good action for Champlin Park in 2019 and then with MN Select’s top 16s team this club season. The consistent high level of action has put her in some of the most competitive situations of which she has responded well with her ball control and defense. She reads the floor well and prepares with good balance that allows her to pursue the ball with efficiency and good angles in her platform work.
Abby Zehr

Totino-Grace | 2022
State
MN
– 5’7 | L/S | Totino-Grace
Zehr has good versatility to her game as she can contribute from multiple roles. Primarily playing as her MN Select club team’s libero she is simple in her movement while showing good command of this role regarding floor leadership. She has good vision and patience and does not waste much movement. Look for her to emerge as one of the top athletes defensively, which also includes her ability to put great pressure on opponents from the service line.
