Anderson was used often in Alexandria’s offense. Primarily on the right side of the floor she also can swing with good results from the middle, left side, and out of the back row. She has good size and takes aggressive swings yet can also swing for control and placement when needed. Having her level of productivity on the right side will help this offense to stay spread and balanced. Anderson’s increased experience should help her clean up her mechanics when it comes to footwork, transition, and timing, which will make her that much more dangerous to defend.
Mackenzie Knofczynski – 6’0 | MH | Willmar
Set to assume a bigger role for Willmar in 2020, Knofczynski gained some good experience during the club season competing for
Kandi Elite
. She will likely be a role player in their offense given the big arms they have on the pins that can terminate well. However, she has ability to swing for kills when creating good timing and spacing. Plus, Willmar has a great setter that will be able to get her involved at the right time. Where Knofczynski will be of help is defensively as she looks comfortable in her block load and eye work to be able to get to the hitter with a good swing block move, closing and getting up and over the net quickly. She has great potential to increase her stock this fall and a season as a court regular for this team in 2020 will help her a lot as Willmar should be in the hunt for a deep postseason run.
Lydia Larson

– 5’7 | S | Willmar
Ready for a breakout season is Larson. As she led this Willmar offense a year ago, she comes back with more experience and a great corps of experienced ball control and attackers around her. Entering her junior year with a lot of anticipation, this is one in which she has a great opportunity to help Willmar take the next step to the state tournament. She has great skills in her movement and distribution and can set the full range of this offense with confidence and good location for her hitters to get up and do their thing. Her pursuit around the court is simple and she uses force through her extension well to be able to set against the flow. She has potential to raise her stock and be considered among the top setters on this side of the state. Keep an eye on Larson and this Willmar team in 2020.
Lilly Thul – 5’11 | MH | Alexandria
Thul can hold her own in the middle. She has a nice arm and when given an opportunity with space to challenge the block or swing around it she can be effective. She opens to the ball well in the air and can generate good power with her arm and torque. On the defensive size she does her job well to contain her middle opponent to get up in front of her to take away space. She understands the visual work needed and maintains good balance so she can use her athleticism to her advantage. Thul looks like she has some of those key elements in her skill set to help her be successful. She has good power, she can score off speed, she is athletic, and she has good game and court awareness regarding all that middles are responsible for. Look for her role to increase even more for this team in 2020.
