Continue ReadingWe have come to the end of our features of the top uncommitted players in the 2021 class. There is a lot of talent available beyond our “top” list. We encourage all players to continue to reach out to colleges to express your interest in competing at the next level. Today we conclude with our focus on the right sides.
Maddy Nelson – Pleasant Hill High School – Summit Volleyball
Nelson has been an important piece to the success Plesant Hill has enjoyed over the last couple of years. She can score with the best of them from both pins. A season ago she had 290 kills on the year. She looks very comfortable from the right side. At 5’10”, she can power through the defense and provides a decent block at the net.
Nina Passantino – St. Pius X High School – Invasion Volleyball
The St. Pius senior is another player who could play either pin but took quality swings from the right side. We debated on putting her on the outside list but found her strength to be as an opposite. Last fall, Passantino had 140 kills in her junior campaign. She will be expected to carry more of the offensive load this fall. Here are a couple of highlights from Passantino.
J’nai Moultrie – Liberty High School – Highlands Performance Volleyball
Moultrie played primarily on the right side for the Blue Jays in 2019 and expect the same this fall. She started to come on strong midway through the season. Her play elevated this winter becoming the primary scorer for her club team. Moultrie is a very smart player. She does a tremendous job of reading the block and we saw her enjoy great success tooling the block on multiple occasions. She had 108 kills a season ago and here are some .
Aile Aiona – Park Hill High School – Mavs 816 Volleyball
Aiona is the one southpaw on our list and a true opposite. She swings a heavy ball and exhibits great power. She missed the first couple of weeks a year ago but still finished with 95 kills. Another strength she possesses is her blocking ability. Standing at just under six feet, she is a strong presence at the net.
Ainslee Stepp – Staley High School – Highlands Performance Volleyball
Stepp doesn’t have the numbers like many of the others but she passes the eye test. She bounces back and forth between setting and swinging in high school and club. When giving the ability to just play the right side she has shown the ability to score points consistently. Stepp takes a great route to the ball that enables her to find the floor often. Check out some highlights.
Bonus* Tamia McClunie – Blue Springs South High School – Invasion Volleyball
We added McClunie due to her ability to play in the middle or the right side. We haven’t seen her in a year due to a knee injury but she is easily one of the top uncommitted players in the area. She has good size and can score points from the right pin. The shortened club season should have allowed her the opportunity to fully recover and have a strong senior season. Here are some highlights.
