The setter has arguably the most responsibility on the team, and usually gets the least amount of recognition. They are practically the quarterbacks of volleyball. These young ladies below have remarkable skill and composure. Many of which are on their way to college soon with intense skill.
Alanys Viera Alanys Viera 5'7" | S Lyman | 2021 State FL – 5’7″ – Setter – Lyman
Viera is a remarkable athlete in multiple respects. She has incredible smooth hands that deliver the ball with perfection. She has such a precise location on where she is able to put the ball. She has great upper body strength that allows her to distribute the ball from anywhere on the court. She has collected an astounding 1,635 career assists for Lyman Highschool. In addition to being the quarterback of the team, she is also an expert at taking the ball over on two. She has an impressive 152 kills as a setter! She will soon bring her plethora of talent to the University of Miami, as a Hurricane.
Sophia Leon-Tabor Sophia Leon-Tabor 5'6" | S Fort Myers | 2021 State FL – 5’6″ – Setter – Fort Myers
Leon-Tabor is a spectacular setter to watch. She is definitely the person you want on your team running the offense. She has fantastic GPS on where she places the ball for her hitters. She uses a variety of sets to keep her offense unpredictable and aggressive. She is able to run slides with her middles, combination plays, and set perfect back row for the pipe. If delivering 479 digs for her team isn’t enough, the 1,630 assist she has, proves her work ethic. She is phenomenal at running a 5-1 offense for her team. She digs her back right corner of the court extremely well. She will be headed North to the University of New Haven in the Fall of 2021.
Nyah Molina Nyah Molina 5'8" | S Lake Nona | 2021 State FL – 5’8″ – Setter – Lake Nona
Molina is a one of a kind setter from Orlando who has exceptional hands. She is the type of setter who rarely ever makes errors and seems to always put her team in good offensive and defensive positions. She is multifaceted in volleyball because of her elite ball control and aggressive serving. She has tallied up nearly 100 aces so far for Lake Nona, giving them a steep advantage over their opponents. She likewise is very aggressive on the net too. She has delivered 135 kills at a solid .275 efficiency. She has the versatility to play opposite or outside if necessary.
Ella Schellenberg Ella Schellenberg 5'10" | S Bolles | 2021 State FL – 5’10″ – Setter – Bolles
Schellenberg is a well-rounded volleyball player with a diverse set of skills. She can set a fast tempo ball to the pins with seemingly no effort. She also contributes to her team in the blocking phase of the game. Totaling nearly 50 blocks, she chips in through multiple different ways. She is sneaky when it comes to disguising her dumps. She has been able to dump successfully to rally her team over 80 kills. She reads the opposing defense well enough to put her hitters into spots to terminate. She will soon begin her senior campaign and hope to lead Bolles back to the regional finals.
