Haugen returns as Maple Grove’s ball control and defensive leader following a productive freshman season in 2019. The primary libero for the top 15s team for MN Select, she has great all-around skills. Her passing and defensive contributions perhaps will be more important for Maple Grove’s success in 2020 given the corps of hitters they should have available on the pins and in the middle. With added competitive experience and increases in her skill development and confidence, her team should benefit greatly. Haugen also provides aggressiveness at the service line and has the hands to deliver a second contact when needed.

Jaynes has great length as a libero, a role she played frequently for her Northern Lights team. At 5’10 she can play with good range in her movement and platform and creates angles well to put her team in system often. She has been listed as an outside hitter for Northfield and may be limited this year given the depth of returning veteran talent they have coming back. Playing time as a DS may be where her opportunities are created this season. The good thing, she will continue to learn and compete alongside one of the best liberos in the 2021 class.

Lile was an all-conference honorable mention selection in 2019 and will return with increased experience following her club season with SMV. She fills the libero role well for her teams in regards to providing stability with her ball control and defense as well as the support she offers her teammates throughout the flow of points with hitter coverage and second-ball distribution when needed. She has a good skill foundation and should again be a key element in competitiveness and leadership for Spring Grove.

Not a varsity member in 2019, Solheid could find her way onto the roster in 2020 and help provide some depth at the DS/Libero role. She played this role primarily for the top 15s team at M1 and gained some great competitive experience. She is simple in her movements and prepares through good balance and patience. Her vision of the server and play development helps her to pursue the ball with good efficiency.

Thibault, a Wright County all-conference selection in 2019, may be the best libero in this class when considering reaction time, first-step pursuit, and the level of competitiveness she provides for her team from this role. She sees the floor so well and creates a dynamic base position that allows her to pursue the ball very quickly in all directions. She plays with a veteran mindset and makes big plays look routine. She will again be a key catalyst to Watertown-Mayer’s season through her ball control and defense and is certain to grow her highlight reel with more incredible plays.
