Here are four junior outside hitters to watch.
Felicity Dempsy: Emerging as a go-hitter, Dempsy was a key contributor for Lee County throughout her sophomore season in 2019. Dempsy posted 153 kills and 32 digs in 34 matches (100 sets) for Lee County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Ranking second in kills for Lee County in 2019, Dempsy enjoyed a breakout season. Dempsy is a strong finisher at the net and reads opposing defenses efficiently.
Kaylee Elam Kaylee Elam OH Wolfe County | 2022 State KY : Versatile, Elam is an outside hitter/middle hitter for Wolfe County. Elam produced for Wolfe County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, registering 195 kills, 72 blocks, 54 digs and 85 service aces. She ranked second in both kills and service aces for the Wolves during the most recent campaign. Elam is comfortable playing in both the front and back row and has shown the ability to deliver as a blocker.
Abbey Howard: Another versatile player, Howard is an outside hitter/middle hitter for 2019 14th Region Semifinalist Leslie County. Among the leaders for 54th District champion Leslie County in 2019, Howard recorded 152 kills, 124 digs and 55 service aces in 33 matches (93 sets). Agile, Howard is a strong server who possesses a diverse skill set.
Adreonna Schutz Adreonna Schutz OH Breathitt County | 2022 State KY : One of the state’s most underrated high school volleyball players, Schutz is a junior outside hitter for reigning 14th Region champion Breathitt County. Schutz excelled throughout her sophomore season in 2019, recording a team-high 302 kills, 25 blocks, 29 assists, 163 digs and 97 service aces in 32 matches (102 sets). Highly productive, Schutz possesses excellent jumping abilities and hits well from various parts of the court.
