Continue ReadingI’ve written plenty of introductions with “This recruiting season hasn’t been typical…”. We get it. We’ve heard the story. I want to get straight to the point with these soon to be Seniors from the Class of 2021 and their amount of talent, how they have developed as athletes, and why they would make a great fit at the next level. For some of these athletes, I’ve seen them play since they were 15s. Some have changed positions, some have fought through injury, and all are just great people that you want to have part of your culture on your team. The Class of 2021 has been a little extra special for me at Prep Dig as we’ve kind of grown up together in the volleyball world. Here are the Class of 2021’s competing at the Prep Dig Summer Showcase that I will enjoy watching compete any chance I get.
Olivia Burcaw Olivia Burcaw OH Prentice | 2021 State WI , the player you need to know about from Prentice, solid all around with a knack to score points! pic.twitter.com/EL6U5rSB90

Olivia Burcaw Olivia Burcaw OH Prentice | 2021 State WI – Prentice – Medford Storm
Burcaw will be coming to Milwaukee from the North Woods in Prentice, Wisconsin to compete among some of the top athletes in Wisconsin. I was able to see Burcaw live at the Prep Dig Sizzle in July and she showed why she is one of the top D4 attackers in the state. Incredibly efficient and high IQ, she can see the floor and find the open spots. Solid in all six rotations, she has the all around skill and athletic ability to contribute anywhere on the court.
Robi Binagi Robi Binagi OH Kettle Moraine | 2021 State WI – Kettle Moraine – Milwaukee Sting
Binagi is so fun to watch with her ability to jump, an electric style, and always has a smile on the court. So many intangibles in her favor that helped KM reach the state tournament last year. The Lasers have plenty returning and Binagi will be a key piece to their success. Oh, and a 30 ACT isn’t a bad thing to have either. High academic and high character student athlete!

Jada Cerniglia Jada Cerniglia DS/L Middleton | 2021 State WI – Middleton – Milwaukee Sting
Two year ago I saw Cerniglia play for Sting United out of the Madison area and this past club season she played for Sting 17 Black. She’s a steal as a libero. She’s gritty, scrappy, and is a spark to have on your team. She’s accustomed to playing high level competition and is solid and dependable from serve receive to digging a hard swing to keep her side in system.
Abby Hoffman – Hartford Union – Milwaukee Sting
Hoffman is a Senior to be who not only stands out on the volleyball court, but carries an over 4.0 GPA in the classroom. Hartford is incredibly deep with talent with athletes who can do a little bit of everything as far as what position they play. Hoffman can set and attack for the Orioles where she is a true utility player that can step into any gym and contribute.
Makenzie Coplan Makenzie Coplan 5'10" | OH Cambridge-Isanti | 2022 State MN – Cambridge-Isanti – Minnesota Volleyball Academy
Madison Gully Madison Gully 5'9" | OH St. Francis | 2021 State MN – St. Francis – Minnesota Volleyball Academy
These two have been teaming up for MVA the past few years where they are well trained, fundamentally sound, and extremely solid outside hitters. Solid hand contact, big arm, and the ability to serve receive to score. They will be part of a really strong group coming from Minnesota from MVA and other athletes from M1 making the trip.
Joslyn Wolff Joslyn Wolff 5'10" | OH Waterloo | 2021 State WI – Waterloo – FC Elite
Wolff has been producing for Waterloo her whole career and really reached a new level playing for 17 Navy this past club season. In her high school season, she’s been a top outside hitter always able to score points and has also stepped into set. This upcoming season she most likely will be a six rotation attacker with Brooke Mosher Brooke Mosher 5'11" | S Waterloo | 2021 State WI and Sophomore Sophia Schneider Sophia Schneider 5'10" | S Waterloo | 2023 State WI setting. Wolff has a big arm and can play against high level competition making her one of the top available pins in 2021.
Grace Perret Grace Perret 5'9" | OH Green Bay Preble | 2021 State WI – Green Bay Preble – FC Elite
I remember watching Perret start her volleyball career in the old Wisconsin Volleyball Academy days. Always a steady, solid, outside hitter who can play six rotations and is a really consistent athlete who can contribute in the front and backrow. I’d keep an eye on Preble this fall in a wide open Fox River Classic Conference race where I could see four to five teams competing for the top spot.
Robyn Ryan Robyn Ryan 5'11" | MB Waunakee | 2021 State WI – Waunakee – Madison United
Multi-sport athlete, 28 ACT, Ryan is going to be a major catch at the next level with the total package of athleticism and athletics. 6’0 tall and can be someone who can contribute in the middle or rightside, Ryan can put up a block and control her side of the net.
Such a violent swing for Emma Schubert Emma Schubert OH Assumption | 2021 State IA on the pin for @AHSVBKnights – Assumption up 22-13 over Union pic.twitter.com/jROQflrP8s
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) November 13, 2019
Emma Schubert Emma Schubert OH Assumption | 2021 State IA – Davenport Assumption – Iowa Select
Schubert is springy and aggressive from the outside and is solid all six rotations. She is a top 2021 pin from the Quad Cities where her high school team will be one of the top in their Class this upcoming season.
Alayna Westenberg Alayna Westenberg 6'0" | RS Watertown | 2021 State WI – Watertown – Capital Volleyball Academy
Westenberg brings a big, booming swing where she can score points from anywhere in the front row. I’ve seen her swing on the right side as well as play middle and it doesn’t matter where the ball is set for her, she’s got a huge window and solid hand contact where she puts a different sound on the ball.
