New Names Rise At The Prep Dig Sizzle
What is so fun about summer events is that new names will come out of nowhere. They are either a new team on the radar, stepping into a new role, or we are just starting to get to know them as athletes. More evidence that there is plenty of college level talent in the state of Wisconsin from all across the state!
Kate Fox-Gunderson – Edgerton
Carmen Crandall – Edgerton
Edgerton has an extremely athletic team where they are scrappy and active at the net. Kate Fox-Gunderson is primarily a setter, but knows how to control the game from the second contact. High motor, high energy, she churns the butter for Edgerton while Crandall is an active attacker who is also a force defensively with her block.
Extremely athletic and dynamic all around team from Edgerton. Strong start to the night! pic.twitter.com/TitKQt7Lbs

Amelia Dettmering – Prentice
Olivia Dettmering – Prentice
I can imagine the peppering that goes on with the Dettmering twins. Olivia is primarily a setter, while Amelia is an attacker that can do it all. They both show them can play all the way around despite being different positions. This whole team is well rounded, they just love the game and play quite a bit. Prentice is just over 100 miles Northeast of Eau Claire, definitely the gateway to the North. They will have a star on them heading into the season with a school with potential to make a run to the Resch come November!
Brandi Fuller – Randolph
Randolph has a young squad, but they are so athletic. Watching Randolph vs. GB NEW Lutheran was quite the battle of D4 team who will be in the mix to compete for their section which is loaded of small school powers, including Catholic Central. Fuller is a scrappy libero who saw time as a Freshman and will be back to take control as a Sophomore as a leader in the back court.
Kendall Ahern – St. Marys Springs
St. Marys Springs brought two teams who were both extremely athletic and talented. They will be one to keep tabs on in the Flyway where they finished second and racked up 20 wins. Ahern is returning as the team’s top attacker and you can see why. She has an aggressive approach and violent arm swing. She’s not afraid to go for the big shot and score points for the Ledgers.
Josie Nelson – Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran
Nelson is the “X-Factor” for an incredibly athletic and powerful Blazer lineup. A setter who can row the show in six rotations, she can block and attack as well. Jaclyn Wise Jaclyn Wise 6'1" | OH NEW Lutheran | 2021 State WI has been the point scorer on the outside, but seeing Nelson play live she has a real savviness for the game and finds a way to get everyone involved.
Kenzie Benter – Fox Valley Lutheran
Samantha Kempinger – Fox Valley Lutheran
I could probably write about FVL as a whole squad from top to bottom where they have a balance of athletes from all grade levels. Teams like this will see plenty of success over the course of a season because they have such great competition every day in practice. Benter and Kempinger are two incoming Sophomores who can score points and Benter is a sneaky lefty who can set and swing. The Northeastern Conference is going to be fun to watch with the likes of FVL, Freedom, Luxemburg-Casco, Little Chute, and Denmark.
Ella Brinkhoff – Thunder
The Thunder rolled at the Sizzle with the athletes on the squad who will prep at Appleton North. An upstart soon to be Sophomore was Ella Brinkhoff. She’s springy and can pass and serve receive too, very fun to watch. This team is incredibly deep at the pin and Brinkhoff provided another swing as well as a primary passer. This team will be another who will have high level practices with the type of athletes up and down the lineup.
Maya Momcilovic Maya Momcilovic OH Pewaukee | 2021 State WI – Pewaukee
Pewaukee will have plenty of depth at every position. Two great setters in Hailey Boelter-Eberhardt Hailey Boelter-Eberhardt 5'8" | S Pewaukee | 2021 State WI and Katie Gund Katie Gund 5'11" | S Pewaukee | 2022 State WI along with point scorers Jordan Berglin Jordan Berglin 5'9" | OH Pewaukee | 2021 State WI and Elsa Sheperd. Momcilovic will be another big arm to score points for the Pirates who will be eyeing a trip to the Resch. She can score points as well as serve receive to keep everyone in system. This group is hungry and will look forward to taking on top competition all season long.
