Emma had 2.3 KPS, 36 total blocks, 2.7 DPS, and 92.2% serve efficiency with 29 aces. After several months without hitting, she actually looks really ready for her senior season. She is a utility player all around the court making things go their way or saving a wild hit ball pretty easily. She was very impressive and I look forward to seeing what she does in her senior season.
Macy Vanfossan Macy Vanfossan OH Underwood | 2021 State IA (OH, 2021, Underwood)
Macy keeps developing and is looking really good for the start of the season in about a month. Last year she had 4.0 KPS, 3.4 DPS, a 90.0% serve efficiency with 33 aces, and 41 total blocks. She was again a lethal offensive weapon for her team this past weekend and I look for the same in the coming fall season.
Amelia Quijas Amelia Quijas 5'8" | OH Assumption | 2021 State IA is an excellent OH for Assumption and I was impressed with both Mia and her sister Anna this past weekend. Her senior season is her time to shine and really leave it all on the court before graduation.
Jillian Shanks (OH, 2021, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln)
Jillian appears to be taking on the leading outside hitter role for Abraham Lincoln this season. Last season as the #2 hitter behind Elaina Bohnet Elaina Bohnet 5'10" | OH Council Bluffs Lincoln | 2020 State IA , a 2020 graduate, she had 1.9 KPS, 3.6 DPS, 28 total blocks, and 97.5% serving efficiency with 19 aces. Now that she is leading the offense those numbers will climb along with her leadership.
Baylie Girres (OH, 2022, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln)
Baylie is moving from MB to OH this season and is already a really talented 6-rotation player so it seems like a seamless transition from her position last year for the Lynx. Her stats last year as a MB were1.8 KPS, 97 total blocks, and 91.1% serve efficiency with a team-high 53 aces. She is a very athletic hitter and her volleyball IQ is noticeably growing with the change in position so it will be wonderful to see her have a breakout season as an OH this year. She looked really good at the tournament this weekend and I cannot wait to see how that parlays into the coming season.
Kenzie Dean (OH, 2024, Des Moines Roosevelt)
Kenzie is not even a freshman yet really. She has a couple of weeks before she even really enters high school. But she hits like she has been playing for her high school team for about 3 years already. She hits very accurately and with insane power for one so young. I cannot wait to see what she can do in the next four years if she is entering high school with the skill and poise she displays so easily already. Nicely done, Kenzie!
